IF you are located in the middle east - best advice I have for you is cover your head and run like hell.......

If you are in the mid west it sounds like your high voltage isn't working....if you run your finger across the screen do you feel any static like you get when a tv is on (pre-lcd !)

never tried that, midwest. screen black, and i had to send test cable  back, the one to test the monitor out of game , could this be a cap problem??

It couild be a couple of things.

If you are not getting the right voltages due to the high voltage transistor being shot or the fly back transformer thusly you might not be able to get the charge to the CAP necessary for the screen to start.
It could also be a bad cap - and the ticking is premature discharge (thus the ticking).

You have just exhausted the extent of the help that I can offer.

Hi

- check the 24v zener diode in isolation output transformer
-check the 160v zener diode (181 part number on board)
-remove the vertical ic la 7838 sometimes is the true trouble maybe when you turn on the monitor whitout this the tick dissapears and do you need replace the ic.

maybe this can help
