Title: Aristocrat 540 MK IV Clear Procedure Request / Corrupt Video Ram?
Post by: Zector on November 25, 2008, 06:37:32 PM
Hello, I am a new member here and glad to be.

Let me begin by explaining my situation.
I have never worked on these machines.
I have two Aristocrat MK IV machines and three main boards.
One of the boards was working perfectly so one machine is ready to use and does not need to be cleared. So that's set and ready. The problem I have is with the remaining two boards.

One board, was working fine with the exception of a "12 - METERING ERROR".
So I swapped it with the other remaining board and found out the other board has a graphic video problem where some of the squares have jumbled graphics and text.
After a couple of attempts in changing jumps in an attempt to fix the graphic problems, I gave up and swapped the board with the "Metering Error"

Turned out it now had the same graphic problem.

Having done some Googling I came across this forum and tried the what seems like a clear procedure on this thread. http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=193.msg5025#msg5025 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=193.msg5025#msg5025). Saying...

Hi

Dont have a machine in the shop right now but it goes something like this.
With the door closed turn and hold the reset key that gets you in the meter screen.
Now open the door and turn and hold the jackpot reset key.
Press the right 3 buttons on the processor tray.
Machine will display ram clear performed.
Depending on software you may need to set some options.
When done close machine door and release both reset keys.
Machine should now be back in operation.

Regards
Ian

I attempted this on both boards and it seemed to only sorta work on one, though following the procedures exactly didn't work at first.
I'm not sure what I did, but what ended up happening was that the meter data became 0's. Though restarting the machine now still says "12 - METERING ERROR". Though it fixed the Video Problem.

Any input is welcome, I appreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance.

Hi There

I have some very old software on my machines - Originally from OZ. What i have found is that some software will only work on certain denominations although it will allow you to set any denom in the setup screen. If you have selected a denom that the machine does not like it will not clear at the end of the procedure and stay on metering error.
If you can let us know what sw you have and from what jurisdiction somebody may be able to advise further.

Regards
Ian

Thanks for the warm welcome every one. I certainly appreciate the help.

I've downloaded the manual and will update you guys later today, along with the Software and Jurisdiction. I don't know if there are multiple versions of the games, but I know I have K.G. Bird, and Gambling Jack.

Thanks again everyone, you guys are as great as this website is.  :131-

*Edit to avoid Double Posting.
I believe I got at least one machine functioning properly. I messed up the other one somehow, but I'll fix that one later.

What I need to figure out right now is how to get Attendant Hand pay working properly. I know it's possible because it was working on the machine that I messed up. e_e

Hello Zector

Are you getting this message or do you want to change the limit ?
If you are getting this message simply key it off - Assuming of course all your keyswitches are working - Check by doing the robot test
To get into test mode switch the machines off and on while holding the robot /hopper button on the processor board.
This will get you into test mode where you can check that all your IO's are working.

If you want to change the limit -
The limits also seem to be dependant on the SW. My South African manual shows that you can set the limit on screen, The US manual states that limits are set by dipswitch and my OZ software seems to have hardcoded limits as i have tried the dipswitches and they have no effect.

Hope this helps

I have just had a similar problem with a game board ( the graphic at start up are all jumbled) It turned out to be a metering error.
when I looked at the individual meters they were different.
The machine needs Meter 1 ,2, and 3 to have same value. In the 540 manual it describes how to get the meters reset.
Once the meters have reset, everything boots up normally. Hope this is of use to you at this late time.

I'm having trouble getting to the submit a new file folder.

There's nothing in there -- it used to be used a lot until some automated programs started uploading viruses and other junk into it.  Are you having trouble with a machine and need assistance?  If so, please create a new post for your machine, describing the machine and the problem, and we'll be happy to help you.

Please do not bump a 3-year-old thread to post questions about a different machine.  Thank you.  :71-
