Title: S+ U18 DUART chip on MPU - what is it for? Post by: poppo on December 10, 2010, 11:33:56 PM I have several 10mhz MPUs. One is missing U18 (28 pin socketed chip on the right side by the 3.68Mhz crystal), but the game seems to play fine without it. BV works, hopper works etc. Does anyone know what this chip is used for? :103-

On a side note, I noticed that there are two jumpers next to it, and some of my boards have no jumpers and some have them in various combinations. That was another clue that it probably was not used in a stand alone situation. Guess I can go 'green' and pull them all out and save a few milliamps. :72-

...Guess I can go 'green' and pull them all out and save a few milliamps. :72- Send them to me, Mark. I'm saving them up in an old milliamp jar for a rainy day, when I plan to use them in a Tesla coil to make my own lightning.. :79- :50- :200- :30- :208- :208- :208- P.S. Maybe I'll just send them to coorslight115 to use in his giant T. coil. :96- :98- |
