Title: What kind of Tape is use by Casino's to tape Reel Strip Ends.
Post by: IFFV68 on December 17, 2010, 11:30:54 PM
I know this has been gone over & over but what does I.G.T. & others get those small double sided tape from to put the reel ends together?
Is there a part #?    If it's expensive how about a group buy?
It can't be that much of a secret.

I was a at a Casino last summer & the reel strip came apart. Call a Tech., thought I  would learn something. I did, he put the reel strip ends together with Scotch Tape. He put tape over both ends, looked like crap. Hit the machine for$28.00 & quit.
That's not the tape I'm looking for.
Any help here?

Thanks Buzz,

I'll give the Scotch, double sided removable tape a try.

Thanks Buzz,

I'll give the Scotch, double sided removable tape a try.

The one I use is labeled 'Scotch Poster Tape - removable' and has a red label on the dispenser. You can cut one strip into thirds (one piece for each reel) and it works perfect.

+ 10 billion for the Scotch double-sided tape. I think it's an industry standard... :71-

I don't use tape on any of my strips...it's not needed.
If the strip is properly made, it will fit snugly under the lips of the reel baskets.
It's is especially snug where the the ends of the strips overlap.
Make sure both sides of the strip ends are tucked in firmly
under the lip and you should have zero problems.
If the strip end is bulged in the middle, it's too wide - it needs to be trimmed or
the basket groove needs cleaning.

Why IGT put double-sided goop on the ends of brand new strips is beyond me. :25-

Because the quality control on the reel baskets isn't good enough to keep the reel strips from coming out on some of the reels.

I've never had a set of strips that would fit perfectly flat without the need of some sort of adhesive.

I have, but it's the exception, not the rule.
In addition, sticking the ends together reduces the amplified stepper motor noise when they are spinning.
