Title: Helps needed on Procedure clear ram on aristocrat 540 MK5
Post by: happyair on December 21, 2010, 02:44:40 AM
Hi,
I have US made aristocrat 540 MK5 which is giving me a problem with a new BV (JCM WBA 12 SS). It is booting up fine but it shows lockup error on bill validator failed or mismatch or something. I want to know how to clear that lockup, do I have to clear ram and if so, do I need to have a chip to do that. What chip and where can I get it?

Think about what you're doing.
Using a clear chip "clears everything"...do you really want that?
That means you will have to "reset everything....lol

1st of all:  Is your BV the right one for your machine?
Are the dipswitches correct on the BV?

Using a clear chip doesn't help if one of these two items are wrong...
after all - how can a clear chip move a dip switch? :103-

i am pretty sure that this new BV is correct for the machine as it was taken out from Aristocrat 540 in casino. However I am not sure that the clear ram is the best way to go in my case but I have tried many things on my own and also posted a few questions about this machine but did not get any response from the forum. So I decide to go with my gut and may end up screw this machine. I think the problem is this is Aristocrat and not many people on the board has them. I even called the Aristocrat 1-800 and they told me that they will not support second hand market. Considering I paid very little for this machine ($100), I am ok with mess around with it even though I might not be able to fix it.

you're right on the money...not too many of those around these parts.
I think the Colombian boys have them down in South America.
Keep fiddling around with it...you're the man with the can.
Cool machine! :133-
If you get a chance - show us a few pics of this rare baby.

Hey there,
Have a look at the attched doc, this is how we do a RAM clear here in Australia on a Mk5.1 or 5.2 which you call a 540 mk5. I know your software is different but it might help??

Cheers...

I will post some pictures later. I also will try the aussie clear ram procedure and see. I remembered reading somewhere that if US made version machine will require a chip. Somebody please confirm and guide me thru it.  :103-

Hi Find4uto

I looked at my game board and found the capacitors mounted in slot cd36, cd37, and cd38. Can you explain to me how can I short them as being mentioned in your instruction for the clear RAM procedure?  I took a picture of those capacitors and also close shot of it. Sorry about poor quality of close shot, my camera is not so good.

Not too sure mate, I always just put in another set of eproms to do it, then it comes up in the menu stating it requires a static ram reset which is bottom left button & 2nd from right on bottom row or reserve & 15 line buttons at same time then just set it up as you like eg. %, token value, denomination. It;s a document ive had but never used, I do the same for Mark 6.

Cheers.

all the Aristocraps that we have ever had on our floor are either WBA13's with the program on an eprom or are a WBA12 that has had the 13 program flashed onto it.  and they all have to have a converter board that is mounted on the side of the transport.  confirm that you have the correct software and the converter board on your bill acceptor. :103-

if it's just a BACC mismatch error you may be able to clear it by simply opening and closing the logic door.  some software versions require that you locate the bill acceptor CRC seed and change the seed values, it's usually letters and numbers and you can change them to any value; it was explained to me that by giving it a new value to look for it will restart the communication...that was probably an answer loaded with sh!t for the FNG who was asking too many questions.  :89-

Yes, i have WBA 12 flashed with 13 program and also got the side comm board attached to the transport.  Can you please explain more on the seed number ? Where can I find it on the validator and how to enter it to the game?

hell i don't remember, my ass is stuck in a chair for the majority of my day now so i've lost touch with the games a little.  :279-  don't get me wrong, i can still figure the problems out i just might take a few more minutes than i would have 3 or 4 years ago.  :89-

i think it was in the Miscellaneous menu somewhere, but that may have been the printer seed setup... :75-  i'll check on a game tomorrow for you, all we have are MKVI so it may not be exactly the same but i bet we can figure it out  :79- :79-
