Title: CC-16D-Inhibit #66160116 questions
Post by: Garetmax on November 29, 2008, 02:02:52 PM
Hello,

I'm moving on to my next set of questions now that I've got the progressive working.

I'm wondering about the coin comparitor that came with my machine.  My machine is an IGT 9" upright with the WBA-11 bill accepter.
It originallly shipped and was setup for tokens.  I then purchased the bill accepter.  The machine is setup for 25cent denomination.

Here's the model - CC-16D-Inhibit #66160116.
It shows 12VDC and there is a sticker that shows .150.

It didn't come with the power cord so its not actually powered either.
I can put any type of coin in there and the unit will play.

I would like to get this fully functional and have it only accept quarters so what do I do?
I found a coin comparitor guide and it shows that this is a $1 WMS coin comparitor.

When people buy slot machines, do these coin compartiors normally work right away or do modifications need to be done? :103-
Would I be able to ask the vendor that I bought the machine from to swap this coin comparitor with an IGT 25 cent version and a power cable?
I don't want to ask him to do something on this if he wasn't really supposed to provide anything different.

Do I need a 13 volt or 14 volt model?  What does the inhibit feature do?
If I got the correct coin comparitor what else would I need to do?

Thanks,
Garetmax

If that coin mech was in there whoever put it in didn't know much, for a S+ you need a CC-16 D 24 Volt coin mech and a loop harness, it is possible they cut a component off the optic board (underneath the Coin mech) so look for modifications

When I got my first slot, it had a IMONEX which is a manual coin comparitor that uses a screw to set the size of token. Rather basic.
I subseqently put in a CC16 and I had to correct two items. One was a wire tie holding down the divertor and the other was a clipped wire on my optic.

Starting from the top. A CC-33 is the large coin, compartior that would be used with $1.00 and larger tokens. A CC-16D is the right one for the small denomination of a penny to a quarter. I am not sure which camp a 50c piece fits into but I suspect the smaller. I believe the S+ units are NON-INHIBIT but for the S+ it probably does not matter.

The Inhibit function basically listens to the machine and if the machine is NOT ready to accept a coin then it is rejected. Here is a good thread on that matter.

When a valid extra coin gets dropped into the machine the hopper runs and spits out the extra coin. In the case of a machine that uses the inhibit function it would have never made it to the hopper in the first place.

The CC basically checks the coin against the right metallic properties and if it is correct then it is allowed to fall into the optics otherwise it is diverted. The divertor is a powered solinoid.
If there is no power such as the machine is off then it just falls through to the coin tray.

This is a simple test for you. Shut off the power on your machine. if the coin falls through then your divertor is working fine otherwise if it falls to the hopper you will need to see what they did with the divertor solnoid. In my case it was just wire-tied back.

In the Bally and WMS they use the CC-16 D for Dollar coins as well, (Bally 24 Volt non inhibited, WMS 12 Volt inhibited) the inhibit is NOT for IGT and the IGT is 24 Volt

garetmax,
do NOT use the 12V coin mech in your machine .
If you do, it'll be very hard to put the smoke back in it. :96-
your machine takes a 24V coin mech, like blueridge said...

Also, pull the coin mech out, pull gradually but firmly, there will be four plastic clips that grab the four corners of your coin-mech....there may be a coin mech harness behind it somewhere in all that button wiring somewhere.

The correct coin mech harness will have white, 5-pin female molex plug.
That female plug will have four wires (red, black, yellow, and purple).
The purple wire comes out and returns right back in on a different spot.
When you get the correct 24V coin-mech, you're going to have to plug this female harness into the male pins of your new 24V coin-mech.

Hey thanks everyone for the info.

I'll see if I can send this coin comparitor back and have him swap it with the correct one.
