Title: G19 monitor no picture Post by: budthedog on January 10, 2011, 09:02:45 PM I got ahold of 2 Cal Omega video slots from 1985. They're basically the same, 1 is poker & the other is blackjack. They both have the same problem, no picture. There is high voltage to the tubes, but even with the room lights off there's no glow of any kind. When I turn it off, there's a small brief flicker of white in the middle of the screen. I've checked the bottom of the chassis board for loose solder joints & they all look good. I've read about the cap kits & I can probably install them, but I'd hate to think after going through all that it still wouldn't work. Seems strange that both have the same problem at the same time but that may be why they got dumped on me to begin with. Also, can't find any actual brand name on the monitors anyplace. Thanks.

The large ones have 6 leads & the small ones have 2. The big sticker on the tube on the left reads "Toshiba", but I think that's just who made the tube. That one has a smaller sticker which reads Model 19-NMA-QM. The one on the right has a sticker on the chassis frame that reads G19-CCO December 1983.
I'm not even sure if these have any value to speak of, a guy owed me some money & I got these in lieu of actual money. Better than nothing, I guess. Title: Re: G19 monitor no picture Post by: kforeman on January 17, 2011, 12:48:48 AM i've never worked with this particular CRT monitor but i "repaired" many by simply changing out all of the electrolytic capacitors i had the replacements for. :79- caps are cheap and pretty easy to change so just shotgunning them all is worth a shot imho. :89- do the heaters warm up? apply power to the monitor, turn off the room lights and look at the neck of the tube. you should see the color gun heaters glowing orange inside. if the heaters are hot i would assume that you have good voltage but are missing something in the video signal, make sure you change the caps on the neck board as well as the main board. sorry i can't be of much more help but i only know a little about how electronics work, hopefully some of the actual electronics techs will have more insight! :3- g/l

did you check the fuses on the motherboard on the back of the game they will also give you a black screen there is a pot on the back of the game board between the connectors that set the voltage ac the the game will come out of reset if this is too low you will have a black monitor hope this helps doyle |
