Title: Bally E-2226-26 reel wiring question
Post by: DCM1519 on January 14, 2011, 01:58:08 AM
I bought this machine about a month ago and am now getting ready to start working on it.  It looks like I may need to have at least one reel reader rebuilt and now have another question that I forgot to ask earlier.

There are two connectors that go into sockets on the reel assembly.  I pulled out the reel assembly and coin hopper to lighten the machine while putting into the trunk of my car when I bought it.

After getting home, I went to connect them and realized that the front connector is red and the other one is white.  Both sockets are white but the front one has a dab of red fingernail polish on it.  I assumed that this meant that the red connector went in that socket.  The wiring on the two sockets is twisted and it looked like this would result in the red connector belonged in the rear socket, not the front one.  I then looked at the pins and sockets and it looks like the red connector belongs in the rear socket, not the front one with the red paint spot on it.

Do your E series machines have a red connector?  If so, which socket does it belong in?

Thanks

I have seen a red connector before, but it was only the bottom one and it was the rear plug, and I have seen red paint on the front plugs too. So you guess is a good as mine :103-. The wiring should have some sort of memory to it since its been in the same position for many years, so I wouldn't force it to the other plug if it doesn't look like it belongs. Worse thing that will happen is blowing a fuse or it won't work...

I did move that red one to the back because of the pin arrangement and the memory in the wiring took a little effort to rearrange.  I figured that if it had been up front, the wiring would be easy to move to that position.

Thanks for the help

match the wire by color to get the correct plug alignment.  the color of the plugs is not an issue.  the wiring colors will match - then you can mark the plugs for easier identifying.
