Yep. I didn't realize it. Old age mkes me forget some things. Toooo many to keep track of.
I have to make a log of what is in which machine.

Man, I can hardly remember 5 minutes ago some days.

Although, a DSV00024 sounds like the same thing as a DSV00042...wish somebody had one to confirm because I like the credit button dings.  I'd love to try one in my Double Diamond Deluxe or Triple Diamond Haywire, but am not sure if it's compatible.  Does your SIMM have a tag on it?  Maybe it's a DSV00024 as shown below:

My Crystal 7's are similar  to the first pic.

When coins are dropped in,  the first three make a different sound & go directly to COINS PLAYED. Every coin after that makes the same high pitched ding & goes directly to credits.
Of course the reels & other sounds are a little different.

I believe my sound Sims is a 0038.

The SG chip will affect the sound to some degree, coins to credit or coins to meter ect, different chips allow different options. When compairing sound, maybe you should state SG chip being used in the sample. Just a thought :88-

Hi, guys,

While I was doing a reset on my machine (Triple Double Stars, 3 reel, 3 cr.) I came across some sound tests.  While tinkering around with them, I heard sounds and choruses that I have never heard come out of my machine. What are all those sounds for?  Do I have access to them?

Also, I have a chip on the MM board with P/N DSV00042.  Is that the one I am supposed to have for this game?  Is it a good one?  I also noticed that there are 4 dipswitches on the chip does moving their positions change anything?

I'm truly curious as to what I've got here

Don't touch the switches!  If you were in the sound I/O test menu, you will find a LOT of sounds available on the 42 SIMM.  Haywire sounds, nudge sounds, etc.  However, these sounds cannot be customized and you cannot pick which sounds you want for your game...the game chip dictates that.  You can, however choose what sound theme you want you want your machine to play from within the Sound options menu.  Legacy, generic, and preferred.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks!

I guess you saved me from some misery.  All of those sounds were so TEMPTING!  I promise to leave it alone...

Thanks!

You're welcome.  Messing around with these sounds led to my addiction of buying other kits so that I could experience the other sounds while gaming!  ;)
