Title: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: FORDSBS on January 16, 2011, 08:28:33 PM On an IGT 2000, is there a newer mpu then a 504? I seen this in ebay. The board they have
does not look look mine. This is what they say. THIS SET COMES WITH AN S2000 ENHANSED BOARD AND THE CHIPS INSTALLED. YOUR MACHINE MUST BE S2000 ENHANSED TO PLAY THIS MPU BOARD Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: Railroad94 on January 16, 2011, 08:43:00 PM Yes, the newer set ups are the ENHANCED boards. If you are converting to one of these you will also need a matching backplane(mother board) and the newer style board tray.
These boards use the game flash memory board(R-board) for each game or you can use a legacy adapter board on top which will allow you to use your old SB chips for each game. Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: FORDSBS on January 16, 2011, 08:46:57 PM Thanks for the quick answer. What is the advantage of one of these?
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: Buzz on January 16, 2011, 08:53:27 PM Ford the only advantage you will find is your wallet will be a little lighter and if she runs you might catch Her.
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: FORDSBS on January 16, 2011, 08:55:07 PM Thanks Buzz & Railroad. I tkink I'll stay with the old one's I have.
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: Buzz on January 16, 2011, 08:58:03 PM An old quote from Blueridge is "new doesn't make it better only faster "
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 16, 2011, 09:31:26 PM That was a good question...
What is the advantage of one of these? If you're trying to save money...this will be a big mistake. But if money is no object, by all means...go get one. But you'll find out you're going to need a whole bunch of other things too. On top of that, they were really made "faster" to handle the more graphics on the video screens. The newer video games will not work correctly on the older boards if at all because they're too slow. However, the enhanced boards are backwards compatible to the older SB chips and games... Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: cowboygames on January 16, 2011, 10:12:17 PM If you have a 504B board there's no advantage to speak of other than easier battery changes. If your board is 504A or older the big advantage is NO reel noise or staic in the speakers. Enhanced board sets can be had complete with backplane and legacy board from slotmacinepartsstore on ebay for $75: They don't come with a tray, but he might have one if you asked. Imve bought 2 now. On the other hand, I got a 504B from Jim at Blueridge and it works great also. :89-
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: FORDSBS on January 16, 2011, 10:21:37 PM I have 504B in most of mine. I think that's where I'll stay
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: cowboygames on January 16, 2011, 10:24:15 PM Yep, if you've got the 504B you're good. All mine were 502 and 504A's.
Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: IFFV68 on January 17, 2011, 04:13:38 PM If you look real close, some of the newer boards on ebay may be for the 044 board & cost a lot more money.
I have one machine that came with the 044 board & they are not interchangeable with the 504 board.. Buyer beware. Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: Railroad94 on January 19, 2011, 08:57:15 PM I agree with save your money for now but sometime in the future we might start seeing the flash boards (R-boards)
and then the only option will be to get the enhanced if you want to change to that game. Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: FORDSBS on January 19, 2011, 09:19:49 PM I hate change. When you get used to something then they change it.
On the new ones do you put chip in like on the reg. boards or do they have something else? I like what I got. Ford :103- Title: Re: 2000 504 board ??? Post by: kforeman on January 19, 2011, 09:54:01 PM I hate change. When you get used to something then they change it. :205- :212- :212- :205-keeping up with new machine models and their various issues, setups and repairs definitely sucks. we have 7 manufacturers and probably 2-3 models for each manufacturer on average on our floor and we have to be able to solve any problems we run into. PITA when a new one hits the floor! Quote On the new ones do you put chip in like on the reg. boards or do they have something else? still a keychip for setups and a boot chip for normal operation. |
