Title: MISSING blocks of color - CEI Post by: shortrackskater on January 19, 2011, 12:30:33 AM I turned on my CEI Video Poker machine yesterday; it had not been on in about one month. It appears there are blocks of color missing; blue bars are where they should not be and it looks like one color is missing altogether. I removed the CRT and just (carefully) wiggled connectors on the CRT and the connectors from the CRT to the unit. Any ideas? I'm not a tech but I have managed to fix my other slots, listed here in various areas.
NOTE: It plays fine, but I just noticed if I get, for example, two of a kind, the proper line flashes yellow and the blocks that were BLUE now flash YELLOW. I'm also now getting horizontal static lines on the screen. Thanks, Jason Title: Re: MISSING blocks of color - CEI Post by: shortrackskater on January 19, 2011, 03:20:38 AM Reseated game board and all chips in sockets. Checked all the connectors everywhere. The chips all "crunched" back in a very small amount. The color graphic chips CGA,B,C are seated properly. I'm still getting the weird color and lots of horizontal static-looking lines. Should I repeat this all again to make sure? Is is okay to spray carefully any "PureTRONICS" contact cleaner on this? There are some chips that look very slightly corroded; they're just not shiny anymore so I don't know if that could be one factor.

Hopefully dormi or doyson will see this thread and comment. Dormi actually fixed a board of mine in an old CEI machine that I used to own. Might even shoot him a PM or email to get his take. Good luck! Jason Title: Re: MISSING blocks of color - CEI Post by: doyson on January 23, 2011, 04:37:20 PM pull the eproms out of the sockets and look at the sockets
some of the boards were made with cheap single beam sockets that only made contact on one side of the eprom leg we had a lot of problems with these not making contact hope this help doyle |
