Title: Sigma Treasure Wheel "Meter Unplugged" error? Help...
Post by: rilaw on January 21, 2011, 12:24:29 PM
Hey guys, I just picked up a Sigma "Treasure Wheel" and I'm getting a "Meters unplugged" error?  :103-  I went through the machine and found the wheel light in the top unplugged, that was it (I plugged that in and it works fine)...  Any ideas?  Also, if anyone has a manual, let me know!  (Dam I miss the "submit a file"}  Thanks...  :5-

I think it was those Bally "Cash Wheels" they had at Foxwoods.
You can find it on their website of the games they have on the floor.
They never update them as fast as they pull them out... :30-

Soooooo, I read one post about a 300 with the same issue.  It was mentioned to whack the meter with a hammer or, find the bad one, cut the wires and splice them into another meter... Can i do this on a SG-150 plus (The splicing)?

Thanks again for the manual!!  Have not had time to check it out yet....

What happens with old counters is that the sprocket gets worn out a little,
wearing a tiny microscopic groove just enough where it binds up onto the pawl.
Hence, the jamming...
Knocking the side of the casing,  jars the pawl out of the groove on the sprocket and
it works until the it does one full revolution.
Then the pawl jams into the groove,  stopping the sprocket from turning,
and not releasing the pawl.

The only way to fix the counter is to dis-assemble it and install a new sprocket & pawl.
It's tedious work unless you have the right tools of a clock smith...lol
I'm no clock smith but I was able to completely restore one into a fully functioning counter.

I learned two things...
1] It's a lot of work and you learn a lot about how a solenoid counter works.
2] I wasted a lot of my time, should have thrown it into the garbage and look for a new one -
but I learned a lot about how a solenoid counter works...lol

My suggestion, look for another counter and install it.
If you cannot locate one...( I'm sure you can with the power of the internet)
Then doing the wire bypass is fairly simple.
It's a lot easier than doing a heart bypass...really...lol
All you're doing is running the ground wire continuously in a loop.

****Meter Issue Bypassed****  I just switched the dip switch setting so it does not check the meters on bootup  :3-

Now the @$#!%@& DBV won't work, ARRRRRRRR....  It won't accept a bill, tried everything... Soooo, there is a 145 validater in there, I have a 200 from another Sigma, gave that a shot....  The 200 accepts the bill, but then rejects it ($1)....  I then gave up....  So anyway, I wanted to try the slot, but since its a $1 slot, and I had do $1 coins, I pulled the CC and replaced it with another, slide a quarter in it, and booted her up....  Slot works!  So, if I use quarters in this, will the $1 hopper kinda work??? Dumb question, I know...  Wish i grabbed an extra hopper, dam....

I'll be honest with you....there's not a whole lot of difference in size
between the new $1 coins and quarters.
It should work?
Does it jam up?

This is set up for silver dollar size coins, maybe I should just use some Morgan silver dollars, lol  :5-  (Kidding)  In other words, much bigger than the new dollar coins  :279-

:97- If the BV did work, and now its not after you turned off the meter check...you also turned off the BV. As far as the gold dollars, they will not work in a quarter hopper..vise versa.  I turned my quarter wheel down on a lathe for the gold dollars. Also I use the Ike dollars in another Sigma, with a 20-1 chip. You can change any of the hoppers to whatever you want by switching the plate, and coin head...except the "large" coins(Ike dollars) . For them, you need to shim the hopper out.

BV dip switch is on....  This slot is from "Resorts" in AC and took the large $1 tokens....  I need to grab a coin head and a hopper disc I guess, will dig in to the BV when its warmer than 10 in my garage:)

A customer said on his Sigma Nudge machine he gets this message  "Tilt --Meter Cut  -- Check Wire "  Is this the same type of problem ?  If so how exactly do you bypass the bad meter ?   The meters are worthless to him.  Gordy

Try turning of SW2 post #10 off...This should bypass the hard meter check...

Gordy, If I remember correctly it was just a dip switch to turn off the meter check on boot.
