Title: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: CYRIL1973 on January 30, 2011, 09:28:28 AM Hi,
My first question: I still don't have the cable that goes from the controller to the computer. However, I tried to open PSP with an XP computer, I am asked to press F10 to enter then to enter the password, which I have, but there's no entering the password... Has the cable got to be plugged to be allowed to enter PSP? Thanks for your help. I will sure have other questions in the following days... Have a nice day. You enter the password then press F10 to submit it. Enter doesn;t work. What kind of progessive ? ChamII, ChamII+, CON1, CON2 ???? If you need help identifying it, post a picture. C10 could also mean- Progressive is not set up (use PSP to initialize progressive) as well as the C14 error it all depends on what type of Cham or Con we are talking about here until Cyril posts back what he has and the machine we can't help. Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: CYRIL1973 on February 14, 2011, 09:20:07 AM Hi again,
I thought I was a real expert so I purchased two more progressive systems. One was programmed very quicly, hoewer I got problems with the other one. At the "Jackpot Programming" section, on line 2 corresponding to "CURRENT JACKPOT" it reads as follows: 0 ; ,>?0,000,00 There is no changing the ; as well as the > and the "question mark". Any idea.? The dispaly keeps showing zero even if I put a 3 for instance after the question mark. It also shows C1. I am a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks; Cyril Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: CYRIL1973 on February 14, 2011, 02:29:00 PM Back to the post.
My units are fOr stand alone. I finally managed to get rid of the strange symbols on the current jackpot line. However, there is no sending anything to the display. It keeps to 00,0 $. It shows C1, C 12. I sometimes deliberately st the jackpot limit higher than the current jackpot and I get a C15, which means this info goes from the computer to the unit. Why do you think it does not take any other infos? I compared the 2 units, on this one one green led is off while on the other unit the same one keeps flashing ( green) (???) As rergards the other unit, I can program it properly. When I turn PSP off, I choose "Exit saving files ( or something like this) but when I turn the unit off and on again, all datas are erased apart from the current jackpot, C 10 flashes every three seconds. Could that come from a dead battery? Thanks for your help. Cyril Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: stormrider on February 14, 2011, 04:00:53 PM Cyril,
Check the battery voltage first !!!!! When you exit to save are you pressing F10 2 times to exit then F2 (to save configuration file on exit) if so next time you restart psp all the info should be saved. Try this with the working one, hook up your cable from Mikohn to pc then go into Jackpot programming hit F2 Load this should show you all the current info of the progressive, then back out with F10 2times THEN F2 to save. Hook up the non working unit Restart psp go to jackpot programming and see if it saved the settings from the working one it should.....then hit F1 to send that info to the non working progressive. Please note that your base value must be lower than all the rest. If you do get the non working one to take the progressive info and you restart the Mikohn and it goes back to 0 or errors on the display then it would be safe to say the battery is dead. I did press F10 twice then F2 but when I unplug the unit then plug it again the current jackpot goes back to ZERO. I will check the battery tomorrow. Has anybody ever changed it? Cyril Original battery is VL2020 Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: StatFreak on February 15, 2011, 10:14:44 AM Cyril, I'm going to assume that you have a CHAMII+ based on the data in your posts, although you never answered that question. :103-
Keep in mind that when you save settings on exit in the PSP program, you are saving them to your hard drive so that the program will load them the next time you start it. You are not uploading them to the controller. Pressing F1 uploads the settings. If your controller displays the uploaded settings correctly and then resets when power is cycled, you most likely have a dead battery, as stormrider pointed out. It's odd that you say that the current jackpot amount resets, because it should never do so, even if the battery is dead. I think that they did that to comply with gaming laws dealing with monetary amounts, but I'm not sure. Also, the ChamII+ is notorious for not accepting some of the upload data unless it's sent immediately after booting. This is an intermittent issue, so sometimes data will successfully upload at other times, and not all data are affected by this glitch. If you are having trouble getting your changes to take, try rebooting the unit and pressing F1 right after the boot sequence finishes. Finally, did you modify your serial cable? Hope this helps. Thnaks for your comments. I had the battery changed today. When I started the unit, I had a C2 ( green letters) as well as other C's such as C10 and C 12. After a while I eventually managed to clear the C2, I tried to send 10,000 but all I got was 000°° ( 2 small zéros :103- :103- ) and the Euro sign. There is no sending anything else. When I turn the unit off and on again, same problem as before, C 10 goes back again. Now I have 2 units Which do not work. Should I insist or dump the damn things? :99- please. I tried your programming, I could send infos to one of the units, thanks :244-, however, all datas are lost whenever I turn it off :8-. Back to C10 and 00,00$. I am at a loss for words. The other unit now shows c1 and 00,00$, no datas can be sent. :50- :50- :50- Any ideas are welcome before I invest in a brand new hammer. :79- Have nice day. I am having a similar problem with one of my progressives. If I don't run my slots for a week or so my progressive info is lost. The reason is the battery on the board needs to be replaced. I haven't done any investigation as to what type of battery, voltage etc but most commonly with slot stuff its a 3.6v lithium that is soldered on. You need to replace these every 12 years or so..... (usually longer than the intended service life of the unit). I am sure others can clairify this for us. Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: CYRIL1973 on February 17, 2011, 04:37:38 PM Hi,
I did change the battery so the datas should be kept. I am kind of puzzled. As I already mentioned the other unit keeps showing c 1 and 00,00$ Couldn't that come from the power supply as the leds do not flash quite well? It's a Panasonic VL2020 3 volt with solder tabs not 3.6 I have had 2 of mine go out with the voltage reading of 2.8 or less you will lose progressive settings when it drops after being shut off. I can't say what Cyril's problem is he did say he had a new battery installed but what type is anyone's guess, he also had one working another reason could be he might not have the Mikohn set for SA under display settings which is done with the 2 padded buttons and switch on the Cham II board itself. No reason the psp program should show all 0000 if he saves the info correctly before shutting down psp. It would help me if someone posted all the messages you get while the unit rebbots to compare to what shows in mine. Others have uploaded sheets for all the error codes. You have a bunch of reading to do... There are many threads devoted to the setting up of Mikohns and all the different problems they've had and how they solved them. Below is a link to the forum containing all those threads.>>> http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?board=26.0 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?board=26.0) Mikohn progressive boards are pretty old technology and are still in use today in casinos throughout the world. Once, you figure out how to get past the errors in configuration set-ups, your display sign should last a long time. But first you need to educate yourself on how these work and how to set them up. Too many times we will give you information that you don't quite yet understand. I remember when I first got a Mikohn, I read thread after thread after thread until I understood what makes these puppies tick! I attribute a lot of what I've learned about these Mikohns through help from members and reading tons of information on it available right at your fingertips here on newlifegames! Patience is the key and understanding that you will NOT learn how to set these up - overnight... Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: CYRIL1973 on February 19, 2011, 02:13:57 PM Hi,
I took time to read the manual properly. I studied the menus and changed a few options. The unit which wouldn't take any datas finally accepted the signal. Great. I would like to know if it is usual to get a c10 when I plug it again a day after. The current jackpot was still registered. Thanks Title: Re: Absolute Progressive beginner looks for experts LOL Post by: stayouttadabunker on February 19, 2011, 04:13:30 PM No, It's NOT usual to keep getting that message just because you've turned it off.
I'm not sure why but sometimes they do this and I suspect that something is going bad perhaps with memory retention of the Ram. It seems to NEED to be hooked up at all times or you get the [C10] message. Have you tried swapping the boards with the displays? See if you can stop getting the [C10] with one setup? For some reason, the board saves the progressive amount values but neglects to save your settings. I'm thinking that you may be missing a step when saving them? Does the manual say anything about saving settings?
