Good morning,

Does anyone make their own Candle Inserts? If so what are you using?

A question about candles: Is it possible to change the lamp in the candle to an LED lamp without causing problems ?

I never have, but it's possible that some lighting gels (http://www.google.com/images?q=lighgting%20gels) might do what you need.  There are some on eBay for reasonable prices.  You could also try posting in the classifieds section on this site -- I'd bet that some vendors probably have a pile of them sitting around, and then you wouldn't have to worry about finding the right color/opacity and trimming them down to size.

LEDs are so directional that I don't think you'd get nearly the same effect of the candle lighting up as you would with a traditional bulb, Frank.  The newer machines in the casinos do have LEDs in the candles, but they appear to be an array of them that are aimed to light up most of the candle area, not just one bulb.

I bought a pair of new candles on flea-bay that came with a bunch of inserts. The candle uses the white insert and then whatever color insert you want to use around that. They are all pretty transparent. After looking at the inserts, I am fairly certain I have seen similar colored film at placed like Hobby Lobby or hobby shops.

The inserts are out there cheap...but if in a bind go to office depot or staples and by a colored transparent report cover. You know the things you put you book reports in for school !!

I have went on the internet and printer various beer logos and printed them on photo paper the size need to fit the top candle insert. It really looks nice when lit. I told my wife when lit I needed a beer. Still waiting after two years of the light being on.

Reel Glass Inserts - $4.00 each .. they are new after market inserts.

Candle light film ..

The package of new transparent film includes:

1- Blue
1- Green
1- Yellow
1- Orange
1- Red
1- Solid White

The size of each piece of film is 1 15/16" wide x 5 1/2" long.

The price is $3 if you use PayPal and send as a gift. If you want a second package of film the price would be $5. If not sent as a gift add 90 cents to cover PayPal costs. They will be sent out USPS First Class Mail.
