Title: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED (FIXED) Post by: AcePeter on December 04, 2008, 09:09:35 PM :3- Thanks all I got it fixed but I have two problem with the machine It was a dollar token machine from a cruise ship. I want to play with real dollars Eisenhowers. But the coin just drops out into the tray :25- I did put an Eisenhower in the coin comparitor is there some dip switch I need to switch...I also cleaned the coin optics, but still no luck. Also when I went to cash out the hopper would not stop it just going. I had to do a ram clear...Any ideals to what the problem(s) may be....Thanks again
:3- :3-Fixed the reason for the hopper was the MPU board was bad and I got a new coin comparitor and that solved the coin drop problem. Thanks everyone :131- :131- Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: Ozzy on December 04, 2008, 09:37:57 PM 1. was the CC working with the other coinage ? no DPS needs to be set

Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: Slottex on December 04, 2008, 09:54:04 PM JOSH, YOU HAVE WHATS CALLED A COD COIN OPTIC DECODER BELOW THE COMPARITOR IS THE LITTLE YELLOW LIGHT ON ?
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: Ozzy on December 04, 2008, 10:28:08 PM coin out optic is an easy piece of tackle to change out, check with the on line NLG vendors for a replacement part.
as for the coin comparator, try adjusting the pot on the front of the CC, see attachment, might get you sorted otherwise you have a dud or it needs to be calibrated. cheers O Z Z Y Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: AcePeter on December 04, 2008, 11:53:40 PM Yes sir the yellow light is on and the coin compartior the pot is covered but I feel the hole so I'm gonna check it out
thanks guys. On the coin comparitor there is nothing to adjust through the small hole just a white piece of plastic Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: a69mopar on December 05, 2008, 12:37:22 AM the white plastic should have a slot (cross) for a small screwdriver, this is a potentiometer, turn it towards the minus mark, this will make it less sensitive.
Good luck, Wayne Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: AcePeter on December 05, 2008, 02:40:18 AM Thanks this has no slot for a screw driver or +. The small hole was covered with the manufactures sticker. :37- it's an Intelligent type..Thanks for looking..

Dansgames :5- Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: cp on December 05, 2008, 11:34:41 AM Your Intelligent Comparitor is a "programmed" comparitor. Coin Mechanism's website explains more in depth. You need just a 24v AC 'regular' coin mech. ...or a wide body coin mech to accomodate dollar tokens. ...or just modify/change to quarter denom usage. Also, with a correct coin-comparitor installed, check the small toggle switch on game board front face...toggle sw should be "up".
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: AcePeter on December 05, 2008, 12:05:33 PM Thanks all I will post a picture of mine this afternoon..Thanks again
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: cfh on December 05, 2008, 12:17:46 PM yes make sure the "coin mech" switch is UP, or the game is disabled and
won't take money. (http://www.pinrepair.com/slots/bally/bat5.jpg) Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 Post by: AcePeter on December 05, 2008, 02:55:47 PM Yes I remember it being up. It takes cash just not the coin....Thanks I like that battery pack..
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: AcePeter on December 05, 2008, 08:17:27 PM A picture of the coin comparitor in the machine :139- Thanks for looking :99-
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: cp on December 06, 2008, 04:26:20 AM Your Intelligent Comparitor will NOT work in your machine. It is a programmed comparitor...programmed for a specific casino and a specific token. The Intelligent Comparitor® with SmartMark® reader is designed to further protect against counterfeiting by incorporating a bar code optic unit. The bar code optic device is designed to read specially marked SmartMark® tokens. This device reads precision mirrors that are accurately minted into the SmartMark® token when the token is manufactured. The SmartMark® is minted into the coin with great precision. The relationship between the center of the mass of the coin and the placement of the bar code is fixed into a specific pattern producing the entire coin signature. Once you have cleared RAM and reset parameters, the IC will no longer recognize any token and would have to be re-programmed with a CPM (Customer Programming Module) Update data profile for your SmrtMark tokens.... Bottom line.........It won't work in your machine.

Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: StatFreak on December 06, 2008, 10:58:10 AM Thanks :37-. Back to the drawing board.. :103- Not to worry. Getting the correct comparitor for your machine shouldn't be difficult. Contact one of our vendors and tell them you have a Bally 5500 and that it's for a dollar machine. It's an easy fix. You might need a wiring harness if the Intelligent Comparitor uses a non-standard setup. Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: AcePeter on December 08, 2008, 05:13:49 PM Yea I'm getting some soon, but the hopper on the machine does not payout right. It goes into tilt for me to add more coins. I even tried known working hoppers and it does the same thing . It keeps paying and the credits never go down... :103- then goes into tilt..
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: paul on December 08, 2008, 11:31:49 PM Do you have the right size coins in hopper it sounds like the coins are not passing through the optics correct
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: AcePeter on December 08, 2008, 11:39:16 PM Yes sir Eisenhower dollars. It pays out but does not register on the credit out, If I cash out at 50 or so the 50 stays and never goes down and the machine goes into tilt. It just keeps paying and paying to where I have to do ram clear.
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: paul on December 09, 2008, 12:14:20 AM Try to move your knife up about 1/8 of an inch or so off shelf wheel or with hopper out watch to see if coins are going through optics turn hopper by hand
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: a69mopar on December 09, 2008, 12:36:09 AM check the wires at your hopper connector in the machine. After all, you did say the hopper works in other machines didn't you (or known working hoppers...).
Good luck, Wayne Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: AcePeter on December 09, 2008, 01:01:11 AM Yes the hopper does work in my other machine. Thanks that what I will do.. :25-
Title: Re: New Problem with BALLY 5500 PICTURE ADDED Post by: AcePeter on December 14, 2008, 01:50:07 AM Well I got it figured out why the hopper is not paying (doesn't count down credits ) it's the MPU board. Does anyone know where the hopper control is on the MPU board?
