Title: BALLY 809 SLOT HANDLE QUESTION
Post by: HOMEARCADE on February 12, 2011, 11:54:33 PM
I recently received a Bally 809.  It accepts and registers the quarters.  When you first start to play the machine, it works fine.  After half an hour, it will still accept and register the coins but when you pull the handle, it sometimes will not spin the reels.  If you wait a few minutes and try the handle again, it will spin.  Can anyone give me any information on where I should start looking for the problem.  I have no knowledge on slot machines (I usually work on arcade machines).

It may be old sticky grease on the setting mechanism, right hand side of the mech looking at the front. Sometimes the pawl takes a few moments to creep back to a position where it can catch again.

WD-40  a little here a little there goes along way . and work the mech. and handle real good after you spray .  just got done with one that was set up like glue. the guy told me that the machine worked fine . got out there about 30min drive . went to put a quarter in and spin one reel spun and machine went to tilt. i guess he lied to me to get me out there but after that the price changed. not being sure what was wrong with it . i told him this changes everything far as price . he said what will you give so i told him ill buy it for parts machine 50.00 bucks he said sold. and i broke anouther rule take plenty of change with you . i had to go 5 miles down the road to get change for 100.00 bill in the country hard to do. so im driving back to work .yes i was on my 30min lunch break that took a hour and a half. thinking what could be wrong with machine. like a kid with new toy . so when i get home i open the machine and pull the reel mech. to look at the readers i look at the three arms behind them and try to move them i was like someone had poured glue all over them. so i pull out wd-40 and start to spray anything that moves and working back and forth . after about thirty mins. of lube i put the reels back in the machine and first spin hit three bars the machine works great! with not having to buy any parts and i had to spary every moving part in the machine just takes a little time. i start at the top of the machine when i get one and work my way down fixing each problem as i come to them .and also cover any boards with rag before you sprayand take your time thats the fun in it and you will get to know your machine alot better. good luck and let us know how it goes. :89-
