Title: What is a "Jersey Hold Em'" Machine?
Post by: rilaw on February 13, 2011, 12:34:02 AM
Here is a link to one I found on youtube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrj558T4J5k

I ask because I have a box of brand new reel strips (33 to be exact), and have never seen these before....

It an awesome 5 reel Bally machine I'd love to get my hands on!  :89-

Well that video sucked. I wish they would drop the music, the stupid special effects, and the endless reruns of the same short video segment and just show us how the machine sounds and plays. [sigh]

It certainly looks like an interesting slot. :89-

Okay, their other video is shorter and just shows a single spin. It's a little better. It seems to be a Skill Stop machine where you first receive the top two cards and then try to stop the main three reels to make the best five "card" poker hand that you can -- and it TALKS to you! Cool.  :133-

The pay glass only lists the following pays:

Five of a kind (??)
Four of a kind
Full House
Flush
Three of a kind
Two pair
One pair

So no straights, straight flushes, or royal flushes ?? even though they have a picture of a RF on the logo?  :128-

Wow.... I read seven pages last night and fell asleep, ouch....

I believe the warehouse that was being cleared near me where I picked these reel strips up was owned by "Reel Vegas Slots", I found their name on shipping labels.   They had a small retail store in RI that fizzled years ago.  I never saw the actual store while it was in operation, but I fixed a Bally machine (think it was a S5500) for a guy who had bought it off them (I think he said he paid almost $2k for it about five or six yrs ago).  Their sign is still up, even though they have been gone for years..

Are there any other slot retailers in RI?

Not that I know of.  Home ownership is legal here, but good luck finding one.  The only source for slots in RI that I am aware of is a random post on craigslist...

That's a Bally? Doesn't look like one to me. It looks like a small-company concept that never took off. Basically it's just an ordinary five-reel slot with the reels moved around to suggest a Hold'Em game and a poker-style pay table. Oh, and the sound sucks. Maybe I'm being too critical, I don't know, but if I was a casino boss I wouldn't put this on the floor if it was free.

It was never meant to be a CASINO machine, it is a machine that is known as a "Redemption Game" and allows for placement of the machine in an arcade with like 151% payback. The Bally 5500 is the platform that is "gutted" and replace with a "special" board and other mods as well so that it is not a "slot" anymore. I played these games in Akron when I was there.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense then.
