Title: S 2000
Post by: Buzz on February 13, 2011, 02:59:10 PM
I ran into a little problem with a new machine I just got, a S 2000 3 reel 3 coin Crystal 7s. After doing a clear and key every thing worked as it should, the enhanced sound sounded as it should. But if I turned the power off and back on the enhanced sound was gone. Press the test button and set the enhanced again it worked fine unless I turned the power off. I ended up trying 3 different Multimedia boards with 042 SIMMs same results. OK tried a spare MPU with the origanal chips, same results. My next step was to make a complete new set of chips, but the origanal game chips were SG000129 I switched to a set of SG000363 game chips, SB100097 base and a VS011GX1. Now the enhanced sound works as it should. Turn the power off and back on works good.

I guess the little Boy in me had to know why, so after a process of elimination it turns out the SG000129 game chips are the problem. I have a old set of SG000129 files and the check sum on them match this set. I think I've come to the conclusion if I ever see another set of 129s in a machine, they are going straight to the trash can!!!

Interesting story Buzz.  Haven't heard of an issue like that before.  Three coin/reel Crystal Sevens huh?  If you ever need to get rid of that 'buggy' game's glass, let me know.  ;)

Are you using DSV 42 simms with it or the correct DSV 38?

Jeff  The last machines I got they all didn't have sound boards but the ones that did had a DSV 42. Is there that much difference between a 42 and a 38 ??

Yes, DSV 38 is a crystal 7 simm.  Great sounds.  Makes a big difference.

I had a problem with a set of SG000362 chips. Couldn't get the SAS to pass threw.
I use the SG000363 on both of my machines. No problems at all.
Have also heard the SG000598 also works very well.

My 3-coin or 2-coin Crystal 7's  I use the 0038 sound Sims,
When a BAR,BAR7,or  Crystal 7's is hit on the first reel it makes a different sound.
Very tranquil sound & one of my favorites.
Haven't tried the 0042.
