Title: Reel Touch Question
Post by: cowboygames on February 15, 2011, 11:18:07 PM
Hi All, I've got a question about the computer in the top box of the reel touch games. These have a cmos battery just like a regular computer cpu and I'm wondering if I'm gonna run into any programming issues when I change the battery. Memory loss or things of that nature? Also noticed looking at this board that it has 7 capacitors, all 6.3v 1000u, that have bloated tops which indicate they're going bad. I'm gonna go ahead and replace these before they short out and damage something. Point here is, this can't be exclusive just to my machine. With 7 going bad at once it might be an under-rated cap for this circuit so the replacements will be a little higher voltage/temp rating. Anyone who owns one of these might take a look and see if theirs are getting the same way and fix it before it's broke. Anyway, that was my question. Just wanting to know what I need to be aware of. Thanks as always for any help :89-

The cmos battery can be replaced,  Then you have to do a normal set up.  You may have to plug in your keyboard to top box computer and reset factory defaults but that is no big deal either. Been a while but I spent a lot of time with these especially the top box computers.   The caps are just that-caps-they store and hold all that energy and bloat overtime.  None of my caps are bloated --I have 5 reel touches.  Your biggest problem with those were the top box power supplies and there has been a mod. out here for those for quite some time.  B.

Thanks PWRSTROKE, that's good info. Is that VGA plug on the side of the CPU a video output I could plug into my big TV?
