Title: touchscreen comm error
Post by: Duxx on December 06, 2008, 01:00:11 AM
Hi
I have a game that errors the touchscreen comm. i have changed monitors and they work ok.
It seems that the problem is in the cabinet but i dont know where to check. The P5 molex goes to the backboard but thats where I stop.
any ideas?
Thanks in advance

This might be a silly question but double check that the touch screen controller is inside the monitor case.  Often they are missing due to the high failure rate and or being pulled for another broken game etc.

It's mounted to the side of the monitor chassis (green board)

If it's there report back.

Ok that is good as it's usually the issue.

Can you see if the board is getting power when the machine is on?  Might be hard to see but if you have an extension monitor service cable that is the way to go.

I would make sure the connector for the monitor (Cabinet side) does not have any lose connections on the plug part for the netplex wires or power.

I think you said you check the backplane and it was connected?

Im making an extension to check all that. yes indeed is hard to see in there.
one of the monitors had a bad glass. that was not hard to change, the only thing was that i cant find the black tape that goes around (i had to improvise w/ a little duct tape hope it stays on. it may get little hot for that) but its there for now.
