Title: PE+ slant top
Post by: jerry304 on February 17, 2011, 04:06:35 AM
Hi Everyone,

I just bought a PE+ slant top and I have two questions. First I need to replace the spring air piston. Does anyone know a current manufacturer or part number that will be compatible with a slant top PE+? And, the monitor works fine, BUT after a couple of minutes, there is a very high pitched buzz coming from the monitor. When I pull the monitor out of it's plug, (cut the power to the monitor) the buzz or tone goes away. If anyone knows where this sound is coming from and how to fix it, please let me know.

Thanks,  Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Welcome to the site.
Please don't make multiple posts of the same content, Most of our regular members read every post and the moderators will move your post to the correct board if you happen to post it in the wrong spot.

I don't want to speak ill of your new machine but Slant tops are the least popular style of machine for home use just due to the size.
This is good for you as game kits / glass / parts for this format tends to be a lot more available and less costly than for the round tops which are more rare and more desired. The machine doesn't play any different so if you have the room and muscle to get it to your basement thats pretty cool.
With this said -  For the door lift you can probably contact any of the vendors that are on our home page and they should be able to sell you one at a reasonable price. Probably not new but if its cheap and it works then you are the winner in that aspect. Its rare for these to wear out as the door on a slot isn't something that gets opened and closed frequently (ie like a min van or hatchback car). What I am trying to say is that a used one is probably going to be just as good as new.

With respect to your buzzing..... is it a buzz or a high pitched whine..... buzzing is usually a coil and is more commonly the coin comparitor than the monitor. If its a whine it could be a capacitor or a power transistor.  Does the buzzing go away when you drop in a few coins.
