Title: Bally 5500 reset
Post by: toms5500 on February 18, 2011, 04:16:24 AM
I have a bally 5500. Got error code 81 so replaced battery. Then got error code 83f, got clear chips. I held the required buttons in for 10 min then gave up. I heard various sounds then the same lights on the coin bin repeatedly lit up. When I tried again nothing happened. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

It shouldn't take more than about 10 seconds of holding the buttons, not 10 minutes.

After you install the clear chip and re-install the board, you need to hold the buttons down with the machine off, and continue holding them while you flip the power on.  Is that what you were doing?

That's what I did but now I think I put one of the chips in backwards which caused it to overheat and I fried the board. I've got a new board coming so we'll see. Thanks to everyone who gave advice to me. This is a great site and I will use it more in the future as i am really getting into these slots.
