Title: New to S2000
Post by: lmgSr on March 03, 2011, 06:26:10 PM
Just received my first S2000 5 reel Enchanted Unicorn, and boy am I lost. :99-
Did a ram clear and a key chip 31 because I had an error on the BV. The Bv was giving me a circle with an X in it and a flashing blue ambulance.

I have gone through everything at least 5 times, but still can't get it to work.

I own  1 S model and 3 S plus's, but I am at a loss with this S2000.

Any help would sure be appreciated. : :131-

Did someone tell you to use a Clear chip or was that YOUR idea?  :96-

Take the DBV apart...the motor's jammed with either a whole bill or parts of it. >>>

Title: Re: New to S2000
Post by: lmgSr on March 03, 2011, 06:33:42 PM
I was told to do it by a dealer on top.

Looked at the BV motors, didn't fined any that were stuck.

Title: Re: New to S2000
Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 03, 2011, 07:10:48 PM
Well,
I was hoping it was only a jammed bill...lol
The 1st part of the manual says it's a ROM verification error.
Now you have to tell us what version chip is installed in it and the DBV experts will tell you
whether or not you have the correct software for the bill acceptor for your machine.

Has it worked before? :103-

FYI, I've never used a Clear chip to fix a bill acceptor in an S2000....never.
No where in the JCM manual for this type of bill acceptor -
does it ever say to use a Clear chip to fix it.  :60-

Also, is the entrance way below, the bill slot that goes into the bill acceptor, lit up? or "off"?

Title: Re: New to S2000

I have to assume that it has worked in the past because it came out of a casino to a dealer and then to me.
It doesn't appear to be lit up in side the entrance way and it doesn't cycle when powered up.

Sounds like it is not even getting power. Are all of the cables connected? Often posting pictures will help people help you.

Bunker it's a S 2000 not a S +  I find it's easier to start out with a clear and key. 9 times out of 10 your going to have to anyway.

lmgSr   I'm going to assume you have a WBA  BV. First thing make sure you have the cash can completely installed and latched. Now a dumb question I have to ask, In key menu did you enable the BV?  Assuming you did. Is the cash can door switch by passed?

Press the test button and using the cash out button go to IO test. When you see IO test press the spin button, then press cash out button to 4.3 Auto Con Fig for Printer and BV press the spin and do both of them.  Now go to 4.8.2 press spin and now 4.8.2.1 ( here is where your going to calculate the CRC ) by pressing the cash out button go to calculate and press spin. Now you just sit and watch, to the right hand side you should see "working" to the left of that 4 question marks If the ? marks change to 4 numbers and letters mixed your done. Give the BV a test and see if it works.

i had a similiar problem it was the transporter was bad, also you should check the wires conecting to your bv make sure they didnt get loose in transport.....make sure your bill validater settings on your s2000 are set to on not off...make sure your cash box is in all the way.....

Title: Re: New to S2000
Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 03, 2011, 07:46:40 PM
Re-seat the cashbox fully into the back of it's compartment area.
Have you enabled the bill acceptor via the keychip yet?
Please throw away that Clear chip under the bed or something...
I like a ball peen hammer really....It looks lovely when the
millions of silicons go flying through space...   :5-
you will never need it unless you want to change the denomination values only.

It's normal for the light in the entrance way to be off for a certain amount of time until the
machine recognizes that it actually has one installed into itself!
The recognition of the bill acceptor sometimes depends on whether
or not the chips are correct for the machine.

Also, the common man fix is to pound on the sides of the machine...
won't work but makes you feel better.
Just kidding...make sure the cash box door is fully closed.
It doesn't hurt to cut the wires leading to the cashbox micro-switch and
tying them together and wrapping the bare ends of the tied wire
with something non-conductive to electricity -
such as black vinyl electrical tape...
It creates less sparks inside your machine... :50-

Curiosity question since I don't have a S2000. If the BV was not enabled, would he still be getting the circled X? I guess my thinking is that if it not enabled, then the machine would not throw up any error codes for it.

Title: Re: New to S2000

Bunker it's a S 2000 not a S +

ADD: I've just read that Buzz said it's an S+...
For your information...all of the above is just about totally useless to you.
Please disregard everything I've said above because it will not help you in any way.   :47-
Thanks for misinforming me about the type of machine you have...
you see...the title of this thread led me into the incorrect direction completely...  jk

See what happens when you stay up late.  :72-

Buzz,

When I got to 4.8.2.1 I had the 4 questions marks and Seed 0000, but they didn't change.

Bunker  I never said it's a S+.  I'm also going to say if you don't have a clear for a S 2000 send me a PM and I will get one in the mail to you.  Your going to need it.  :99- :79- :79- :279-

poppo  I attached a file on the Sentry bill bezel.  They are a aftermarket bezel.

lmgSr   Did you tell the machine to calculate the CRC ?

Buzz,

Let me back track  Which model BV do you have?

I guess some of my luck has rubbed off on you.

If it never cycles I'm thinking the problem is not with the machine but with the BV. Reason I think that way is the BV will clycle even if the MPU is removed from the machine.

Buzz,

It's WBA-13 SS

At least now we know we not dealing with a Mars.

With the hopper removed look behind the BV chassis and you should see 4 wire looms coming from the BV plug, three of these must be plugged in. fourth one is not used. I think these are always white female plugs going to black male plugs.

Maybe you just have a BAD BV.  PM Ben at  Fannini slots, he's about as sharp on WBAs as anyone I know.

Just for S&G .. are all of the dip switches in the up position on the right side?

Buzz,

Yes The 3 wire looms are connected.

OhioGaming,

All the dip switches are in the up position.

I think I would agree with Buzz and either/or both the head and transport is bad.

poppo  I attached a file on the Sentry bill bezel.  They are a aftermarket bezel.

Thanks. I guess what i was asking was if the BV was not enable in the menu, would it be reporting an error? Some people had asked if the BV was enabled. My thought was that if it was not enabled, no error would be reported since it was not looking for it. In other words does having the circled X basically prove it is enabled?

Title: Re: New to S2000

If cables are plugged in, CRC/netplex auto-config has been done, hardware dipswitch settings are correct, BV is enabled, and a clear/key doesn't do it...time for a new BV.  I went through this a few weeks ago, and a new BV replacement cured the problem.

Title: Re: New to S2000

I think you might have missed the part where I said the BV will cycle even if the MPU is not even in the machine.

Figured I'd better cover my butt, I just disabled a BV and when I turned power off and back on the BV cycled.

I'm not 100% sure but I think a S+ BV will cycle if no MPU is installed.

If there's power running to the DBV, it will cycle...

Good  look at the back plug on the transports and see if they are the same S+ and S 2000 If they are the same, stick the S+ in the S 2000 machine and see if it cycles. It's not going to take any money, but if it cycles we will know the machine settings are OK and your S 2000 BV is bad. It's quite possible the plugs on the transports are different, If you want to go to the trouble you can switch those wires also. The BV chassis is only held in with a couple of screws. Remove the cash can and you will see them.

Jason No disrespect but some of actually enjoy fixing our machines.  You must enjoy grabbing the key board and asking someone else how to repair your machine. If and when it's determined  that lmgSr  BV is bad I will be one of the first to recommend buying a new one. Until that time I don'r care what you bought 2 weeks ago !!!!!!!

I think I've just been labeled a taker and have perhaps stepped in front of a bus.  Sorry Buzz, didn't mean any harm.  Since my BV was dead, I didn't have anywhere else to go.  My reseller said that if I returned the dead BV assembly to him and could find a good used replacement, he would reimburse me since it's still under his 1 year warranty.  I reckon I had better make another donation soon before I ask for help or have anymore questions.

Apolgies to all that I may have offended or raped for information.  Just sharing my "limited" technical experiences in hopes that it may help others.

When I put the WBV 12 into the S 2000 the red circle with the x in it went off.

So, try this on for size:

This machine came from up near the Canadian boarder, could it be possible that the casino ram cleared it, but the BV is still set for Canadian currency?

If the other one doesn't cycle on power up, there is probably something else wrong. When power is applied it doesn't care what it's set for, it just cycles to move everything to the home position. Sort of a self test.

There were *some* on eBay a while back, but they cost more than I cared to spend on them (I don't remember the price, but it was more than I wanted to spend on a toy add-on for my machine that really didn't add any functionality).
