Title: What's up with all these board versions???
Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 05, 2011, 02:28:02 AM
The S2000 MPU boards.  :7-  :81-  :37-
I hate them because there's so many different ones.  :5-
Some work with this and other's work with that.   :210- :103- :99-
I love   :288- the S+ boards because there's only 2 kinds: 10MHz or 16MHz....
but the S2000 MPU's??? C'MON!!!! It's ridiculous!!!!  :97- :208-

I would love it if we could finally sort out this mess!  :89-
Pictures of s2000 MPU boards and their descriptions would be
very helpful to all those that don't know what is what...me included!  :72-

I don't what's the differences between an "035", "502","504" "A", "B",
"C","D,X,Y,Z I'm gone crazy" or an "enhanced" board...
at what number do you guys call a board "enhanced?  :96-

Hey Bunker, 502, 504a and 504b are the basic S2000 boards. Enhanced boards are the only others that'll work in a s2000, but require a legacy adapter to make them compatible. It's like a multimedia board, but holds ALL the operating software for whatever game. The 500 series boards are all the same except the 504b board has better ground traces modified into the board to eliminate the reel noises you hear a lot of complaints about. That's the short and sweet of it, hope it helps

It does Cowboy...thanks...
Now I need pictures guess...
These numbers 502,504...are they coming from the last 3 numbers on the longer number on the board?
What's the "035"  and "044" for?

All the 500 series boards look pretty much the same except that 504b boards have black RAM memory sockets and 502a/504a have white. Beyond that you have to look a little closer to see how the traces have been changed on the 502a/504a versus the 504b in the area underneath where the multimedia board mounts. As far as the 044, that's a Gameking, I-game board as is the 3902. The 044 is the newest version of that pair. Not sure what a 35 board is. And yes, the numbers are derived from the last digits of the board model number
