Title: Can't get flashing "This Machine Accepts $$$ Bills" panel to work
Post by: Jack1000 on March 06, 2011, 02:01:28 AM
I just installed this cool lighted panel (don't know what to call it) on the front of the machine, but can't figure out where to plug it in.  It has a two wire cord with two three wire connectors.  I found two locations with the same connector, I tried them but neither work.  One is in the bottom of top box on the right side and it had nothing connected to it.  The other is on the top of the unit just behind the coin hopper.  It had a connector in it already, but it didn't work when I installed the new connector in series with it.

There is also what looks like a lamp socket with two orange wires attached and I don't know where that goes either.   :103-

Anyone know where these go?

Thanks in advance,

Jack

Plug the large white connector into the AC Power Dist unit at the back of your machine.
I used the connector on the top right. of the AC Power Dist.
The lamp socket with orange wires goes in place of one of the normal BV lamp sockets.

They were made for the S-Plus

The orange jumped into the light for the bill validator bezel and the other to the main power supply.

There is a thread on here how to used them on the s2000, Someone will lead you to it before I can find it again

I have it plugged in there and it still doesn't work.  I do not have a lamp in the socket.  Does it require one to operate?  What lamp does it take?  Jack

Did your bill validator bezel light up before ?? This only turns on when the bill bezel would.

Yes it requires a bulb as it uses the current draw to activate it,
If you want to test it simply use one of the lamps in the door that are lit all the time.

The purpose of using the bill validator is so that the sticker only comes on when the validator is ready to accept bills.
If the validator is not lit - it means that the system won't take a bill.

Actually all it needs to do is detect a 6-13V across the socket.
I just pulled the LED out of mine, it works without anything in the socket, and follows the operation of BV bezel.

Great video, but my BV is different.  I have an LED circuit board where your light panel is.  My LED board indicates the value of the bill inserted.  There is a  light that comes on when the BV is ready, but that light is on the BV itself.

Is it a JCM BV?

Please post a picture of the Bezel on the door(from the inside of door - like I did) and also the BV  (especially the label)
I also have LED Panel installed for the BV
My BV is  a WBA-12 with Sentry Display (you can can see 2 circuit boards the lamp board and the Sentry to the front of the machine (it looks sorta below in my pic due to camera angle)

I took a closer look and found the light for the bezel is comming from a board with a bunch of LEDs on it.  It is the board that has the light sockets on it in your pic.  Standby for my pics.

That looks like a WBA-12/13 as well.

Would need to see a schematic for that version, unless the status lines have enough voltage drop across them to activate the controller.

If you have a single denom light that would work.
The other thing is to carefully remove the black box and disassemble it and install a jumper
either one of these will keep the label cycling anytime the machine is on.

Wow, there it is!  I hooked it up to the Multi Denom light and away it went.  Check out the attached video.  Thanks! K+

Great Job  :3-

There is another option if you want it only on with the BV being on
It took me a few minutes to check and double check that it wont hurt the BV or the machine.
There is 4 wire plug going to the LED lights (Not the display board) it enters on the left side of bezel as your looking at the bezel from the outside, or the right side as your looking from the inside.
If you tap into the red wire (pin 1 which has a small arrow pointing to it) and the yellow with black tracer wire (pin 4) note each wire is on the end of the connector (not the two middle ones)
You can make it operate as the BV is turned on and off.

One of these days I am going to really  :98- something while figuring out things.

I almost wish you hadn't told me about it.  Now I'm going to have to hook it up that way.  That will be tomorrow, I'm going to bed.....

Thanks again  :88-

OK all done.  The hardest part was running the wires through the factory wiring harness.  It came out really nice and except for the butt splices, it looks like a factory installation.  Thanks, again....
