Title: Where to find S+ ballast
Post by: poppo on March 10, 2011, 11:38:52 PM
The reel lamp ballast on one of my machines is humming pretty good. I thought this would be an easy item to find, but it seems like all I see are the ones for S2000. Anyone know where to find these?

<edit> Never mind. Found them.

Basically any 115vac ballast that will work with with a F15T8 bulb will do. I bought a couple of the e-bay ones.

I took mine apart, re-soldered the "cold" joints and it cam back to life I might try the CCFL route however Maybe the 25V can be "split" with a voltage regulator chip or a divider circut to get the 12V required for the CCFL Inverter.

This for a S+ they are 115vac ballasts.

It might not be the ballest. The S+ floresents use starters. These look like a big capaciter. PRess down and twist to remove.

You can pick them up at Home Depot in 2 packs for $4.00

Already swapped that. Actually once the lamp is lit you can take the starter out and the light will will stay on.

I had an S+ a while back with a ballast that was loud as hell from Worldwide Gaming.  I had to drive back out there to get a replacement, as the auction said that the machine had been refurbed and was ready to go into a game room/basement/etc.  I don't know how many game rooms/basements want a loud electrical buzzing noise in them.

I had to switch out a burned-out flickering fluorescent bulb one morning from a belly door panel.
I must have been a little sleepy  :294- or something because all I did was open the door, and turn the starter.
Well, the black plastic piece on the bottom had must of been heat-rotted and cracked in half.

The wires inside of the starter twisted and touched together......

Picture this...>>> One hand on top of the door and one hand on the starter - while sitting in a chair.

After?   :72-

The Pelco security cameras captured my body hurtling the chair across the game room floor
and smashing a belly glass in another aisle!

Needless to say, I was now WIDE AWAKE....lol

I don't know......

In some thread I read earlier this week BUZZ said that he had 16 slots plugged into a single amp breaker.

If this isn't making a loud electrical noise, it will likely be making a loud Snap (breaker popping) or a cracking noise (fire).

You just got to figure he got the handle BUZZ from some place........    :72-

FWIW, I got ballasts, and now all is quiet again.  :71-
