Title: WMS Stampede
Post by: jsmith on March 11, 2011, 11:55:27 PM
I have a  WMS Stampede that is not working.  The lights come on, the speaker makes a noise, the bill validator acts as though it's working, but that's where ithe machine stops. Usually the reels spin and the display on the front comes on,but not now.  Pics show my machine and one pic shows the boards. One LED is not lit.  Can anyone give some advice on how to get it up and running?   Thanks  J Smith

I don't have my WMS machine handy.  What's the light that's out (with the power off, use the two white levers on the side of the board to remove it -- the light should be labeled on the board)?  If it's one of the voltage indicators (which I think it is), then chances are your lower power supply is crapping out on you (pretty typical).

There are a few sticky posts in this category on how to replace your lower power supply with a computer ATX power supply.

For the record, you have a WMS "Jackpot Stampede" non-Dotmation 400-series reel slot.

Left FAIL light illuminated indicates a boot sequence failure.
The LED not lit is the issue. Your missing the +5V from the lower power supply.

I'm a new-b here so I hope this reply goes right.   I took out my Stampede board ----LED not lit is ( +5VI ) the other four +12V,-12V,+5V and +18V are all working along with the Fail LED on the extreme left of the board.  Does this non-working LED indicate a bad power supply?  ----------   I really appreciate all your help.

Yes sir.  As Neonkiss indicated above, that LED out is indicating that your power supply is not outputting one of the voltages that it should be.  That's why the Fail LED is lit.

To Knagl, and Neonkiss--- Thanks so much for the info. I will take your advise and replace the power-supply as soon as I can locate one that's right.  Thanks for letting me know what kind of machine I own, it surely will come in handy when asking more questions.  1 more thing, I'm very glad to have found this site.  In May,  my wife and I make our annual trip to that place across the river from Bullhead City. This year I'll go over and stop at NLG and make a little donation.  Thanks again.  J.Smith

Oh, excellent -- be sure to ask for Joey (the owner) when you go there, and tell him you're a member of the site -- he'll give you the grand tour.  He may even have a power supply for your machine.
