Title: Can't get sound from my bottom tray speaker
Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on March 12, 2011, 03:38:08 PM
I am not getting anything from my bottom speaker. This particular game is the type that bothe speaker molex connecters are "fixed" one to the tray and the other to the bottom of the slot. The y were both broken when I got the game, so I cut them loose and just spliced them back together(red to green and black to white) I also installed a 47k resistor as well.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks,

I would make this suggestion.  Take one of your Wife's sewing needles, insert it through the wire before the resistor and after the resistor ( in other words bypass the resistor using a needle) if you now get sound the resistor is the problem, if no sound  IGT's Mickey Mouse tray speaker set up is the culprit.

I was using 47 ohm resistors with success and then one day every one I installed I wasn't getting any sounds. So I got some 22 ohm and they worked. Did the 47s go bad after 2 weeks, I don't know! If the 22s stop doing the job my next step will be a 1/2 stick of TNT.  BOOM no more speaker static. fix that one didn't I.

47k resistor is Waaaay to high ohm resistor. Use a 47 or a 10. Both work

To clarify Cowboy's post -

what he means is the 47k equals 47,000 kilo OHMs of resistance
wheras the 47 Ohm resistor is 10 thousand times less....lol

With a 47k ohm amount of resistance placed on the white wire  -
it's no wonder you didn't get any sounds... :72-

a thunderbolt  :50- of lightning would have trouble getting through that block of ceramic...lol
