Title: Repairing Bluebird Reel Touchscreen

Our bench tech is on vacation this week.  We have quite a few monitors that either have no video or the t/s won't calibrate.  Our bench tech usually repairs these.  I am always interested in learning new aspects of my job.  Anyone know where I can get info or videos for training on this?  The monitors I am most concerned with right now are the blue bird 1 small, 4"(I think) t/s by your right hand.  I do have a background in electronics, so soldering and reading schematics aren't a problem.

For the 7" Williams BB LCD video problem the only thing you can do is try to replace the capacitors on the A/D board and see if it comes back, works 90% of the time on the kristel model, if that does not work then either the inverter board is bad, or the A/D board has component issues and should be replaced unless you have the SMD parts to fix it.

The touchscreen issue is something else entirely. Sometimes you can just unplug the touchscreen plug on the LCD (while it is still in the machine) and plug it back in and the touchscreen will work again, if not, then the touchscreen may have to be replaced.

Thanks for the response.  We usually fix touch screen issues exactly how you described(when in the machine:such as ts communication errors).  Eventually, the t/s will not calibrate properly.  We then bring a repaired one up and take the other to the bench tech's room.  The casino I work at is pretty easy going and likes people to step up and learn as many aspects of their job(which is better for me...My gf and I are thinking about moving somewhere near Vegas in the next year, so I want as much knowledge as possible to help find a tech job there).  I was assuming I'd have to replace the front screen covering.  Is this the whole 3M piece of glass or is there a covering only?  Saw a video of someone on youtube that was replacing a ts for a cell phone.  They applied light heat to remove the layer. 
Also, thanks for the other info.  I was planning on starting small with the touch issue and moving onto the ones that have no video.  I knew it was a capacitor somewhere, but was unsure which one.  Thanks for the step in the right direction.  I believe we have kits to change the caps out which I have to locate in his office also.

The touchscreen for that particular LCD is the whole glass piece on the front. You can buy the touchscreen from 3M and it comes with a matched control board.

Thanks Firebird.  You're a life saver!  Guess I'm looking for a piece of glass.  His office is pretty organized, so hopefully it'll be easy.
