Depending on the issue, it might be easier than you think.  Post up some information and we'll help you out!

Type of machine...make/model  (photos are helpful too)
Exact problem (error messages showing, lights blinking, alarms sounding...that sort of thing)
A story behind the machine and if there is any behavior that was strange with the machine leading up to the problem.

I knew nothing about machines a couple of years ago, but the guys out here have schooled me in ways I never thought possible, and I'm pretty dangerous with these things now.  I blow stuff up and get into all kinds of trouble. Haha!

Seriously though, take a shot and let us know what you've got going on...we'll try to get you fixed up!

i posted the problem up under BALLY ELECTROMECHANICAL it should be the second thread from the top. its titled bally 809-zt 1-5 coin payout problem. its 1971 model 809-zt. its identical to the 809b. the guts are different from the 809-zt. i got a manual but not much detail. but i found another manual from ebay that looks a lot better. and hopefully has the model i have in it. the other manual didn't.

According to our experts, the manual of choice for Bally EMs is the "Owner's Pictorial Guide for the Care and Understanding of the Bally Electromechanical Slot Machine (http://www.amazon.com/Owners-Pictorial-Understanding-Electromechanical-Machine/dp/0934422052/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1297653162&sr=8-5)” by Robert N. Geddes and Daniel R. Mead.
