Title: 360 with a few issues....could use some help
Post by: Raven on March 26, 2011, 01:59:54 AM
I just bought a second 360 last night, and need some help figuring out whats up with it.

1) The DBV 200 seems messed up.  (DBV-200 A344,  12V 1.0A,  ID 044/045W,  V 2.12-03)  This head won't take bills at all.  It powers up and makes the noises, but then won't take a bill.  I swapped it out with the one from my working machine, and it did the same thing in there.Good one in this machine will take a bill.

2) bill transport/stacker not working.  The transport doesn't make noises during bootup like the head does.  When I put a good 200 head (DBV-200, 12V 15VA, ID 044/45W, V. 2.05-02) on there, the bill goes in and just stops.  It sits there just out of the DBV head and does not register credits.

3)Touch screen calibration gets way the hell off.  I know how to calibrate it, but why does it get so far off with each power on/off?  And also, it's more off across the bottom than higher up the screen!

4) Coin mech unit won't come out.  I was going to pull the monitor out, but the coin mech stuff won't come out to do so.  My other one just slides right up, this one doesn't.  My other one doesn't have a reel hopper, is that what makes this one stuck?

Thanks!!!

It sounds like the BV head and transport are bad.  If you can't fix them, replace them (make sure you get the right software in the head).

For the touch screen, try cleaning the screen, especially around the edges.  It also may be the touch screen control board (micro touch, usually).

The coin mech is probably either glued in from spilled drinks (if it came from a casino), or sometimes they are just tight and need some extra muscle to pull out.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure where to start on fixing them myself.  Is there someone on here who does it?

I cleaned and calibrated the touchscreen several times already.  Seems to be at least somewhat better now.

There are probably some members here who have the equipment to work on them, but I don't know for sure.  We got rid of most of our stuff, because we don't have any on the floor anymore.  Maybe someone else will chime in.

If you are mechanically inclined, you could try just taking the head apart and cleaning it.  It's not real difficult.  If you have a digital camera, take pics so you know how it goes back together and to get better info from people here.

On the transport, look for broken wires or dirty optics.

Some of the vendors will probably have heads and transports for sale, just make sure you get the right software in the head.  The ID-044 software you have is right for WMS machines, although you have an outdated version.  V- 2.40-04 (C1E7) is the newest version I'm aware of.  You may want to post the BV problem in the JCM DBV section.

Did you get the Coin mech out yet?  If so you could try swapping the monitors between the two games, like you did with the BVs.  The problem is probably with the monitor, but swapping them will tell you for sure.

I did finally get the coin mech out.  The bracket that holds it was slightly bent, but I managed to gorilla-wrestle it free.  I wonder if there is a way to make a free credit switch for this.......Do you happen to know the pinout for the coin optic board?

I haven't figured out how to get the BV and transport out yet though.

I don't know about a free credit switch, WMS probably designed it so that would be difficult.

I don't remember how to take the BV out, but if you post close up pics I'm pretty sure that would jog my memory.  Can you open the BV door?

I actually got it out the other night.  Turned out to just be 4 screws holding it.  I dropped and lost 1 though!  Luckily it was the same size as some of the ton of computer screws I keep around.

This keeps getting more complicated......So I got another DBV 200 head for it and tried it out.  Nothing.  Swapped in the one out of my other machine.....nothing.  It won't take bills at all.  Here's the other thing I forgot to add that the green lights on the front do not light up.  I even swapped that board out with the one from my good machine, and it didn't light either.  I assume this means an issue with the harness, but not sure.

I occasionally have a similar issue with one of my 550's however I have WBA 12.  It hasn't happened in some time, but occasionally it does and that was a known issue when I bought the machine.  Id check all connections, on the transport, behind the mount, even disconnect from back plane and power and reseat.  I'm not sure how it sits in 360's but on the 550, its a pain to remove the yellow acceptor head, sometime the connection there comes loose when putting it back.  Id also make sure the gears above the cash box are working and clean.

The transport could also not be getting a good connection in the back, or the contacts are corroded.

Also, is there a door sensor or switch that's not closed?

No door sensor switch issue.  In fact, the board that connects to the green lights doesn't have a sensor switch on it, but my other one does.  The head isn't hard to remove, and I've swapped them out several times.  It gets power and cycles, but nothing else.  I did a RAM clear, and that didn't help.  I even swapped out the EPROMs ,and same thing.  I haven't tried swapping the boards out, so I guess that would be next.

I swapped out the I/O board with the one form my good machine, and that took care of the bill acceptor issue (the green lights are still out though).  So I guess the board is partially bad, or is there something that may be set wrong on it??  I matched the dip switches to my other one, but still no-go.  When put into my good machine, it wouldn't take bills, and had two green lights on each side blinking (1&3 on the left, 2&4 on the right).  I'm sure that's some error code, but no idea what it means......

Help?!?!?  :99-
