Title: How not to ship reel strips. Post by: poppo on April 04, 2011, 05:31:02 PM I must have an e-bay hex or something. :5-
First that glass, and now I bought some reel strips that I really didn't need (luckily) and this is how they were shipped. :25- They would have actually been in good shape if the seller had not rolled them so tight that it caused the plastic coating to crack. :30- The seller offers a refund, but it will cost just as much to send them back as I paid ($6 total with shipping). So I guess you do get what you pay for. :47- Title: Re: How not to ship reel strips. Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on April 04, 2011, 06:11:48 PM I got some last week with the same problem + he sold me a gouged up light up bill decal that even still had the glue residue on the back side. I'll know better next time.

Winding them that tight causes the laminate to detach from the backing and create unsightly air gap breaks. As far as I know, the damage is irreversible.
It also ruins the reel-sized curve that has developed while the strips were installed in a machine. Title: Re: How not to ship reel strips. Post by: Neonkiss on April 04, 2011, 08:56:16 PM Try sticking them in a file folder. Then iron them inside the folder. You will have to move them down to do the bottom half.
Only use about 4 or 5 seconds of ironing and then check them. Keep the iron moving. They should be really flexible and will lay flat. Let them cool and after about 1 min they should be fine. Post back and let me know how it went. At this point you have nothing to loose. Title: Re: How not to ship reel strips. I have never had any luck removing those laminate breaks using this technique (at least, not the severe ones), but then again, maybe I just suck at it. :5- :127- It's always worth a try... :79- It will remove the heavy curl. It's one of those things that the ladies use as a marker to distinguish the single guy from the married ones. It's one of those qualities that screams out "save me".
If I ever picked up a girl and brought her back to my hotel room she would get a look at my suitcase and see how well everything is folded and she would have me pegged as either married or gay ( not that there's any thing wrong with that.) lol Title: Re: How not to ship reel strips. If you're gay, then she'll want to be the one to set you 'straight'. :200- :30- Title: Re: How not to ship reel strips. Post by: poppo on April 05, 2011, 02:40:10 PM Update
I had sent the seller an e-mail explaining what had happened. I did not ask for a refund or anything. It was really more of a FYI and I had already written off the $6. But the seller is going to ship me another set. So we shall see how those arrive. |
