Title: Backplane pinouts for 360
Post by: Raven on April 18, 2011, 03:14:30 AM
Does anyone have the backplane pinouts for the 360?  I would assume that 550 would work too.  I want to hook up an LCD touchscreen, but I need the pinout for the serial port.  (I'll use the monitor's external PSU plugged into the outlet on the cab under the power switch, and VGA straight from the MPU).  Mounting might be an issue, but I'll figure that out.

WMS 550 VIDEO
SERIAL PORT

JK 7 on back plane is the serial port connector to the top box; it is an 8-pin connector using pins 1-2-3-4-5

Wire colors are as fallows

Pin 1- Black  {no tracer}
Pin 2- Black  {with white tracer}
Pin 3- Red     {with black tracer}
Pin 4- Black  {with orange tracer}
Pin 5- Grey    {with black tracer}

The pins are as fallows

              J7
       5-  O  O  -1
       6-  O  O  -2
       7-  O  O  -3
       8-  O  O  -4

Pin 1 is CTS   {clear to send}
Pin 2 is RTS   {request to send}
Pin 3 is RXD  {receive data}
Pin 4 is TXD  {transmit data}
Pin 5 is GND  {ground}

Thanks Wes.  So if that is for the top box, where does the touch controller serial data go to the backplane??  (and why would a top box need a serial interface?)  Where could I find a complete pinout diagram for this silly thing?

There is no touch controller in the top box, the touch controller for the monitor sends its info to the touch screen jk 14,
the 1.5 board is a serial device, as is the smaller serial display interface board found in the latest release 550 top boxes

I'm pretty sure the 8 pin plug on the side of the top box is pin for pin to the backplane on the 550, the extra wires at the top box are for the security switch in the top box, and are not required for home use

Yeah, I was confused because I couldn't see another serial port interface on the backplane.  But I yanked the monitor out tonight and saw one labeled "TOUCH SCREEN SERIAL PORT"   :279-  So I suppose THAT is what I need the pinout for.  It's weir though, that has 7 wires going to it, but the serial connector inside the monitor cage only has 3?!?!

it actually only needs transmit, receive and ground for the top box to work

Thanks, but I'm not needing the top box stuff.  I'm actually needing the touch screen port pinout.  I'm trying to put a different LCD touch screen in my machine and it won't have the normal 21-pin s-shaped monitor connector.  I want to directly connect the touch screen controller to the backplane.

I'll see what I can come up with

I think I have what I need to do this, now it's just finding the time.
