Title: 1989 IGT SpinTil You Win- How Do I Remove Cover From Motherboard?
Post by: pclisa71 on April 20, 2011, 11:57:03 PM
I have a 1989 Bally Spin Til You Win Slot Machine. Does anyone know how to take off the metal protector case from the motherboard? I need to change the lithium battery that is on the motherboard. Thank you.

Welcome to the site!

As far as I know, Spin 'Til You Win was an IGT theme, unles Bally copied it?  If you could post a picture of your machine and/or the board in question, one of our members will be able to better help you.

That looks like an IGT to me.  The board needs to slide back toward the rear of the machine about 1/2" and then it lifts up.  They can be a bit of a pain to pull and to put back in.  Pulling the hopper first gives you more room to work.

I agree, now that you've added a picture to your post.  It looks like an IGT S+ with a side-mounted MPU board.

With the power off, remove the hopper (it should just slide straight out towards you).  Then, you can remove the MPU board by simply lifting straight up on the black knob on the silver metal tray that holds the board.  The board will slide up about a half an inch towards the top of the machine (not towards the back of the machine), then can be removed by pulling it to the right slightly to get it out of its track.

Do you have an error 12 on the display?  If so, then yes, the battery on the board needs to be replaced.  If not, you likely don't have a low battery situation.

Sorry, my mistake on the direction.  It's been a while since I've worked on those.  :279-
