Post by: FORDSBS on April 24, 2011, 11:03:26 PM
On a bally 6000 sound question. I have Money Bars running. All sound works OK except for
when money bars hit. Racks up credits but no sound. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks, Ford

You might send a PM to NLG Member "Tilt" as he has the exact same machine and can tell you what he has on his end.

If the the rest of the sounds are working then I doubt the sound board is an issue.  It may be "just they way it is"....but I would check with Tilt first before doing anything.

Picture attached shows the location.  Be very careful removing it....replacement would be hard to come by and the little prongs on the end of the chip break in the wind they are so delicate.

I doubt that there would not be any sounds on a hit like that..............kinda weird.

I thought money bars played the same tun as extra cash plays when it's adding up the bonus credits on the money bar hits, not sure tho'  :103-

Sound's normal to me.....

@ end of video there are 3 bars. Anywhere they pay. All it does is give click and rack up credits with no sound.

Yeah I can see it's playing the roll-up sound on a standard hit, but on the Bonus "Quick Hit" you get nothing on the roll-up.  Doesn't seem normal.  I wonder it they just put a generic sound chip in there?  Can you carefully remove the sound chip and see what it says on it?  I might suggest you remove the entire Pro2 sound board from the machine and then remove the chip from a desktop instead of trying to remove the chip while the board sits on the side wall...it's very delicate as I said.

It will make the same sounds with out the board in (I think) because I had a 6000 and took the sound board out and got that result

I have the board out. it looks like a 3260 stamped on it. To pull chip out do you just pull or do the flaps on each end get preyed open first?

I'm going to crash. I've been on these machines until 1 this morning & back up @ 7 & working on & off all day.
I'll check posts in morning.
Thanks Ford

I looked @ chip. I'm not pulling it. My eye's are not good enough to put all those FINE legs back in.
I'll surely screw it up.
Looked again. Do you open clam to get chip out? How do you open the clam?

You open the clam shell by sliding it from the front to the back of the card (the back as if it was still installed on the sidewall and you were sliding it towards the back of the machine).

okay so it's using a generic sound simm good for most all games but missing some bonus sounds (game dependent) .  Have you heard from Tilt yet...would be good to see what he has and compare.

Yeah, I'm a one man traveling circus sometimes  :96-  I send Ford a PM, and will check mine when I get back home this weekend.  I'm pretty sure mine has rollup sounds for the money bar hits, but I will double check.  The only real difference I can see between mine and his is I have a 5 line version, so the game software will be different.   More to follow after I get back.

Ford,

I checked mine tonight, and sure enough mine plays the rollup melody for money bar hits.  What is interesting from your video is my machine does not play any reel spin melody when I press the bet max button and yours does.  All I get from the bet max button is the credits going on the machine, then reel stop sounds.  If I hit bet one (or more up to max) then press the spin button I do get reel spin sounds.  Strange eh?  :103-  Where's Wayne?  Maybe he has some ideas?

Tilt.
That's weird. Do you have to give up one for the other? Jim said mine is a generic. Is your chip OEM or generic?
I have a Bonus frenzy that all sound works except on roll up. This must be problem with these 6000.
Ford.

No, it just depends on how you start the game.  Press Bet Max and you won't get any reel spin melody, press bet one and spin and you do.

I'm not sure which chip I have, how do you tell?  I know that I do have the Prosound II with the stereo speakers in the top glass.

In an earlier post on this thread Jim from Better Slots posted a picture of chip.
I didn't pull mine out. I opened the calm by sliding center to side & then I could see the #'s on chip.

Here's what mine sounds like.  I'll rip into the sound card later today or tomorrow and see what it has in it.

That seems to be a programming error (?) I had a Double Jackpot Bally 6000 at one time and got the "rolling" sound either way Max Bet or one at a time then spin. Maybe the malady is game specific?

Ford,

We have different sound chips.  Here's what mine has on the label:

PS2ITMOX  03
MNY1-00 U4
BE2D 05/13

I'm thinking the MNY1 = Money Bars?

Yep. Jim said my machine had the generic chip. I wish there would be a chip that got all sounds.

Yeah, me too.  I'd like to be able to have reel spins sounds w/bet max.  I guess it is what it is.

ITM is usually for In The Money, however yours is a slightly different number, so maybe.  As I go through my machines, I'll see if I can find one that works for all sounds.  I know the money bars I've had in the past had the sounds but don't remember special chips, thought they were the generic chips.  Perhaps the GNRC2 will work for the sounds, that's likely what was in them...
If you don't have a GNRC2 to try, I'll see what I can pull, just not for a few days since I'm on the road again...

Thanks,
Wayne

I have a bonus frenzy that is like that. All sounds work except reel spin. On that one there was no sound for bonus.
I got another chip now all sounds work except reel spin.
