Title: Bally slot machine. Unsure of anything about this machine. HELP? please
Post by: urbanjared480 on May 05, 2011, 03:01:13 PM
I have an older Harrah's Dime machine given to me. I am wondering if it is over any value or worth repairing as it has some minor problems.

It is a Bally Machie made in 10/1980 is says.

The first number on the tag is 809-9ZZS
the second number is MT-19754

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated and if it holds any significant value. I have a person offering me $100 on craiglist and is drivng from San Francisco to Phoenix to get it. So this makes me think there might be some hidden value???

Thank you

Welcome :238- Be sure to look around and jump right in. After just a short time browsing, you will not be able to leave! Just like a good book that you just started! :89- :71- :89-

I deleted your duplicate post. No need to post the same thing in multiple areas as our members generally follow all of the sections on the board, and this makes it easier to keep all of the replies in one topic. No biggie of course, just wanted to let you know where your other post went.

I am sure someone more knowledgable in the pricing for those machines will chime in soon!

Greetings urbanjared480  :88-

I'm almost certain that it's an EM machine (Electro-Mechanical) with a late manufacture date, so I moved the thread to the EM board. Please post a picture of the inside of the machine to confirm.

Those strips are called lightning strips. The machine probably doesn't pay very often!  :30- :47-

The dime denomination is unusual and makes the machine more interesting IMHO. Dimes weren't popular because of their small size. They were more difficult for customers to handle and increased the probability of coin jams and other coin related problems.

I've only analyzed the payback on one lightning machine (same as yours, but a 10cm), and I can't say that your strips are the same, but the one I looked at had a horrible 72.75% payback for 1 coin and what would have been an almost equally horrible 75.25% payback on your version with max coins bet. (It actually paid less per coin for max bet than yours.)

I'm not up on prices right now, but it's probably worth a few hundred dollars. I'll leave it to those who are up on prices to tell you.

If you post more details as to what types of "minor problems" you're having, our resident EM experts will probably be able to help you.
Be as specific as possible, and post pictures.

The machine you have IS an original Harrah's machine which is based on the Model number - rather than someone adding casino glass to a machine and saying its what it is.  I have an extensive library of Bally and have most of the listings by model and where they were designed for.

I unfortunatley do not have the keys to the machine. It was given to me by my grandmother who did not want it any longer. I do not have any use for th machine to be honest as I live in a really small 1 bedroom apartment. I am trying to see what its worth so I may know a reasonable price to sell it for. I know some bulbs are burnt out as well as I think it skips a coin to move up the lines/payout on the top. So for 1 coin payout, you really need to put 2 coins in, and for 2 coin payout, then you need to put 3 coins in, and etc...

I am posting pictures of it as well as the Manufacture Tag on the Side. The Tag says it was made in 10/1980.

I thank you all for you replies and usefull information.

That might be true. My grandmother thinks there might be at least $20.00 in dimes that she always kept in it for play and I know I have probably contributed another $10 playing and testing the game in the past few weeks.

Is this machine of any value.

I am just curious why someone would want to drive round trip 1500 miles to pick this up from me unless it was worth some signifacnt value I do not know of?

 :103- :103- Maybe it's full of silver dimes.  :96-  :30-

In this economy, I don't think the machine is worth more than $400-$600 working. I thought Foxsslots might have had a figure...
Is an original Harrah's dime machine worth more than average? :128- Anyone?

P.S. Having said that, the machine is finally worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. If someone wants it badly enough to drive 1500 miles to get it, I'd put an appropriate price tag on it.  ;)  Of course, your location might have something to do with it. Strike that. If anything, your location would lower the value. Maybe the buyer's location, though?

urbanjared480   I guess I don't understand. Sounds to me like you as the seller and ? as the buyer struck a deal.  Case closed no matter what the machines value is.

Well, that's a good point. It probably would have been a good idea for the OP to post here before accepting any offers.  :25-
