Title: Stupid E-Bay (again)
Post by: poppo on May 11, 2011, 12:29:35 PM
Well, apparently e-bay decided to change the layout of the summary page. I used to have my won items listed at the top and then the items in my watch list below. I had to call their support line because my won items were gone and I could not find them. For whatever reason, they decided to remove the won items from the summary and stick them under 'purchase history' and have left no option to put them back on the summary page. So I guess summary no longer means that.  :25-

If you liked eBay's abrupt changes, try upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1.   ... :256-  or better yet, DON'T.  :279-  :30- :30-

Back to the orignal gripe.

 :210-

Not only did they stick your won items on another page, now you can't delete any of them. So this means if you have let's say a dozen items you won, you have no easy way to see which ones you have not received yet. What the hell were they thinking? The CS person I talked to said this change was due to overwhelming requests. I say  :47-

poppo, sorry for the hijack of your post

One thing i've learned about ebay, they don't care!

They are the 800 pound gorilla in the room and they know it.

I called their CS again today to see if I was maybe missing something and the first thing you get is a recording 'If you are calling about the changes to the summary page...blah, blah,  blah....'.  The hold time was over 10 minutes, so I have a feeling I'm not the only one who is peeved about this.

I have no problem if they ADD features, but when the take away perfectly good functionality, then that's another story.
They may be the 800 pound gorilla, but we are still the ones who feed it.

If anyone else uses e-bay and hates the way 'My E-bay' now works, be sure to voice your opinion. There a petition mixed in with all of the other rants about this rediculous change.

The worse is yet to come as you keep buying. It was so simple before. Receive an item, leave feedback, delete it from the list. Your summary page always showed what you were still waiting on. Not any more. Now you have to go to the history page to see items won, and since you can not delete anything, the list will just keep growing and growing and you have no easy way to see what has been received or not. It may not be so bad for the occasional buyer, but if you buy a lot, it is now totally unmanagable.

I wonder if that is so they can assist the Government in collecting taxes from sellers, maybe this is just the beginning of their roll out on that?  Who knows...

I read that 'theory', but there is nothing stopping them from still keeping a history without mucking up the layout and functionality. And they already have a history, because there has been an 'undelete' function.
