Title: Merit type 58 / Tatung VS-20475 monitor issue Post by: channelmaniac on May 19, 2011, 01:04:51 AM Hey folks,
I have a strange one here... It's a high res (VGA) 19" touchscreen monitor in a Merit Megatouch upright cab... Tatung VS-20475, a.k.a. Merit Type 58. When you power it up it has high voltage and the filament is good... but there is no image. However, when you power down the game the image pops up on the screen and is visible as the voltage on the monitor fades away. Any ideas? I'm about to put a Zanen cap kit in it which has 48 (gulp!) caps in it and will see if that fixes it. Since I've never seen an issue like that, I have my doubts a simple cap kit will fix it. You might try turning up the screen control while it's running and see what the picture does. One other thing that comes to mind would be a high voltage probe on the flyback anode to see what it's running at. There are other things I suppose, but that's where I'd start

The VGA input cable going to the neck board was partially unplugged. The sync wires wern't properly connected. After a recap and resoldering of the crappy joints and plugging all the cables in properly it works great :) Title: Re: Merit type 58 / Tatung VS-20475 monitor issue Post by: cowboygames on May 21, 2011, 12:08:03 AM CRT board partially unplugged? I never think of the easy stuff :30-

Now I have all the extra wires stripped out of the cab and getting ready to mount the jukebox PC in it. :) |
