Title: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: RiseLikeRa on May 20, 2011, 04:37:54 AM Greetings Group:
I was wondering if Bally made a penny EM machine? I have never heard of or seen one. If one exists I would love to see it. Perhaps add one along with a Circus and Monte Carlo to my collection. T. Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: Op-Bell on May 20, 2011, 04:59:50 AM I never heard of it, but they made dime EMs and pennies would fit the same hopper. Finding a mechanical coin acceptor for pennies might be a challenge, and if you did it probably wouldn't work, because it would have been made when a penny was made of copper instead of zinc. A dime comparator could probably be filed and bent to do the job.

Thanks for the reply. You are absolutely right about the penny and the different metals used. At a minimum there would probably be a high rate of rejected coins. Sounds like more trouble than its worth. I will stick to my quest for the Circus and the Monte Carlo. I really like the bonus features. T Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: slotsteve on May 20, 2011, 09:44:06 AM used to be a group of bally em games in downtown lv that you put 3 to 5 pennys in before the dbv were used this was in mid 80,s , the were 4 and 5 reel game with high jackpots
Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: RiseLikeRa on May 20, 2011, 11:13:45 AM WOW! I guess the penny machines were out there. I am staying away from the "E" machines right now. Seems funny since you cant get near a penny machine now a days at a modern casino. I have even seen a 1/4 penny machine! Perhaps Bally missed the boat many years ago.

Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: golflover on May 24, 2011, 05:27:59 PM I have a Bally 1019 Big Win penny machine. Takes 1-6 pennies. It is an EM and outside of the occassional hopper over/under pay is working fine thanks to all the help from members here. They are hard to find machines, I bought mine years ago.

Calif indian casinos there are TONS of games that take 1 cent bets, but only some are actual slots, rest are these fancy video machines which I find hard to call slot machines. Technically I guess they are unless they are specifically id'd as bingo or video poker etc. However if you look at the instructions most say 'min bet = 125 credits' i.e. cents, so really these are just the same as a dollar machine as far as I'm concerned, cuz you have to put that much in and more just to play. But it lets you slice up your betting into single cents into the various odds and lines. Personally I think it is deceptive, if a machine says 1 cent on the glass, you should be able to play it with one cent even if your odds of winning *anything* back is astronomical. I've never seen a quarter machine where one quarter didn't allow a play.
None are like the old slots though, since they all pay out in those printed tickets (booo!) Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL? Post by: prarire on May 27, 2011, 11:34:09 AM It was the Bally model 803 Penny Star. Looked like a regular 742 A and lots of 5 coin multiplier machines made.

You learn something new everyday. The 803 did not show up in any of my books. Must not have been a good one or just a mystery machine. Terrance Title: Re: DID BALLY MAKE A PENNY ELECTRO MECHANICAL?
