Title: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: U.S.AutoService on May 20, 2011, 08:05:15 PM Not mine, but a friend of mine has a s2000 that is dead as a door nail. The only thing that works at all is the inside work light (refrigerator). No MPU lights, no BV noise, not even the Fluorescent light in the door. He has changed known good parts like.....
MPU backplane processor main power box power supply behind the reels power on/off switch still nothing, I put his MPU in one of my machines and it works. I do know when the problem occurred he was saying the spin reel button acted funny and might have came loose in the door. any help for this guy ? thanks :137- U.S.Auto Service Dan Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: Jim on May 20, 2011, 08:33:45 PM SOunds as if the power supply is not getting 115vac to it. you can check any plug that has a orange wire with a black/orange wire =+25vdc. or red wire with a black /red wire +13 vdc. the +25vdc power all the flor. lamps.
If the power supply is good, then your problem has to be down in the units mounted to the backwall at the bottom. the brownand blue wires carry the 115vac from here to the power supply. Jim Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: U.S.AutoService on May 20, 2011, 08:41:52 PM Sounds as if the power supply is not getting 115vac to it. you can check any plug that has a orange wire with a black/orange wire =+25vdc. or red wire with a black /red wire +13 vdc. the +25vdc power all the flor. lamps. Jim Is there any chance that the power CORD could be bad ? it is in a basement and maybe a mouse or poor installation might have damaged the cord. I think he just bolted the machine down to a bench, maybe he pinched the wires... Try a diffrent cord and also a diffrent wall receptacle. ! :137- U.S.Auto Service Dan Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: slotsx2 on May 20, 2011, 08:44:18 PM Yeah, it's my Red White Blue again!

Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: Railroad94 on May 20, 2011, 09:34:17 PM My guess is that its your power distribution box .... not the power supply behind the reels but the box towards the bottom. Not hard to swap so I would try that.
There is a small circuit breaker on top and would check that also. On the distribution box if u unplug the 6 or 8 pin molex on the top left, that is all you will get is the light so check that connection. Good Luck Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: coorslight115 on May 20, 2011, 09:36:33 PM Looks like this

dont know why, but now the bill validator powers up, i now have all lights working , reels spin up but get error - METER DISCONNECTED if i plug in the second plug from the top on the left of the MB it goes back to no power on at all. disconnect it, it powers up as stated, but with the error?? getting close........ any more suggestions?? Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: cowboygames on May 21, 2011, 02:59:59 AM Sounds like what I had a few days ago. Took my meter board out and it was burned up pretty bad, got really hot. Root cause I think was a faulty player panel switch and it ended up wrecking one of my door IO boards and the meter board which I just bypassed to get rid of it. Seems like mine went bad when I pushed the service button to test the lighting. I thought it was just a coincidence at the time, but you mentioned having a problem with your max bet button. :103- Try swapping all your IO boards out now. Maybe replace the max bet button first though

That sound like connector J8 Cab i/o senet connector. attached is two files. 3rd page on file 2 far right middle is the j-8 connector and its pin out. Find a working multi meter and you should be able to narrow it down. Try putting all connectors back and unplug the cab i/o card leave it out and power up. I put the card in didnt plug in reel cable........... wont power on. well if you have changed the i/o with a known good one, then it is something that i/o card powers. We have to look at the schematic and unplug each item one by one till it powers up. You just eliminated the reels and their lights. I'm a little lost on all this but if you can get the machine back to the above point, (booted up with a error ) just lift and close the main door latch, wait 3 or 4 seconds and do it again, do this 5 or 6 times. This may not work and then again you may get a supprise !! Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: slotsx2 on May 21, 2011, 03:27:04 PM Tried that, did nothing..........

I had one board explode a chip last week because I plugged a bonus reel harness incorrectly! Most of these older 502/504 MPU boards seem to be the main cause of many problems on S2000's. They are suspectively ( is this a word? lol ) at the end of their service lives? :129- In my case, I'm sure that plugging in my harness in wrongfully - stuck the final dagger into my MPU's life. :96- Title: Re: s2000 dead as a door nail Post by: Buzz on June 03, 2011, 01:27:16 PM My machine is running fine after finding the problem, it was the handle solenoid.....
