you may as well do a complete clear, holding both test and pseudo coin as you boot with the Saferam Clear chips installed.  is this a new install into the machine or was it a functioning progressive prior to this?

Thanks,
Wayne

When i got the machine, the progressive had a C1 Error. In being new to this i was going through the steps, and when i did i was setting option #2, and i set it to 0003 now everytime i try to go back into it to change it, it says Error. I can't figure out why it wont let me change it. When i reset the board, i put the chips in and hold the buttons untill the lights flash. is there a more extensive clear? that would reset that option to 0000? Please help VERY frusteraded!

When you are clearing, do you get a CH F ( FULL)- CH P (PARTIAL)- OR CH C (COMPLETE)?
Keep doing until you get a CH C. That is a complete clear.

I asked because I wondered if it ever worked. what are your dip switch settings?  What mains are in it. Does it have a chip in the u24 socket of the main board?  is there a chip on the backplane board in the is01 socket?

Ford is on the right track asking if the display shows CL C, since sometimes you have to push hard on the switches (test and pseudo coin) to get them to work, not so hard as to break them.

Thanks,
Wayne

Complete - Press and hold the PSEUDO COIN and TEST
buttons, then switch power ON. When the message CH
C displays in WIN PAID, release the PSEUDO COIN and TEST
buttons. The CH C message is followed by CL C.
Full - Press and hold the PSEUDO COIN button, then
switch power ON. When the message CH F appears
in WIN PAID, release the PSEUDO COIN button. The CH F
message is followed by CL F.
Partial - Switch power ON. The message CH P displays
in WIN PAID. The CH P message is followed by CL P.
If an error was detected during SafeRAM™ Clear as
designated by E C, E F, E P in WIN PAID, repeat the
operation.
Upon a successful SafeRAM™ Clear, the button and
tower lamps flash. Switch power OFF and replace the
SafeRAM™ Clear EPROMs with the Mains, or turn DS1
sw8 OFF. Replace the MPU assembly and switch machine
power ON. The machine will enter a Reel Calibration
Procedure whereby the home position is recorded in
SafeRAM™. For tilt-free operation, it is important that
the procedure completes without interruption.
NOTE: A SafeRAM™ Clear for MC=28
requires a SafeRAM™ Clear EPROM,
and DS1 sw8 to be enabled (ON).
NOTE: The TEST and PSEUDO coin
buttons can be located by referring to
the pictures on pages 2-5 and 2-6.
NOTE: If door open or MPU logic
detection circuits are enabled, an
audit key switch activation is required
to remove the 82/85 code after power

you can pull the u24 chip, progressives don't require it.  I've never tried one with it in, but it may be ok.  it may be easier to take a good pic of the board and post it.  the u28 and u43 mains should have printing on them that shows the version.  Before you go too far, you may want to confirm a complete clear (CH C then CL C).  I've never had one stuck at a certain setting after a complete clear.
