Title: S+ pays all bills from hopper
Post by: proten on May 25, 2011, 02:10:23 AM
I have a S+ that any bill that goes into the
acceptor is payed out of the hopper.
I went into the settings group #2 and
I found the setting to change but it
wont change.
What did I miss or am I not doing some thing right?   :103- :103- :103-

You need to make sure there are no credits on the machine first.  If that is not the problem, are you trying to change:
Bill Acceptor Pay
Mode <0> [8]

0 should be changed to 1

Cleared all the credits and the turned on the validator
with a "SET DENOM." chip.
Then every thing looked good ,validator lit up
and took the bill.
Then it put out coins even with the credit button on.

Then you need to change the setting as noted above.

Bill Acceptor Pay
Mode <0> [8]
The bill acceptor must be enabled with the set chip to change this option.  Options are pay coins from the hopper {2}, convert bills to credits {1}, or follow the player-initiated credit {0}.  If set to follow the player-initiated credit, bills are converted to credits if the player has selected the credit mode, or paid from the hopper if the player has selected the noncredit mode.

I went to the Bill Acceptor Pay Mode <0> [8]
and the spin reels button is not working.
I can go into other groups and make changes
but not this one setting.

Are you sure there are no credits on the machine?

What SP chip?

Yes I played them off.
Is this maybe one of the times a full clear is needed?

SP 1271

Are you sure you are on the right setting? This is in page <0> You turn the reset key to get to it. On a SP1271, I think it's 2 presses of the self test button first. Then like 4 turns of the reset key.

Here's the Bil Pay Mode option in SET chip SET088.
This option is exactly the same if your SET chip is an SET090.
Click on attachment to make larger for your pleasure...>>>

Yes , on my PSR for the SP 1271 there is no mention of
using an set chip. But one of the easy set up sheets I
found said a set chip is needed.
Does this step need a set chip?
I have a set90 and a set 15.

Use the SET090.
You need the PSR for it?
If so...look below>>>

Bunker,

What have you been drinking? :103-  A set chip is not needed to change that setting. The BV just has to be enabled (which his is).

Bill Acceptor Pay Mode <0> [8]   The bill acceptor must be enabled with the set chip to change this option.  Options are pay coins from the hopper {2}, convert bills to credits {1}, or follow the player-initiated credit {0}.  If set to follow the player-initiated credit, bills are converted to credits if the player has selected the credit mode, or paid from the hopper if the player has selected the noncredit mode.

Paul,

Exactly how are you getting to this setting?

<edit> Hmmmm.... The SET 90 does show this as being an option witht he set. I could have sworn I have always changed it without a set chip.  :5-

Thats what I was seeing too.
But when I go through the settings
the "Spin Reels" button light turns off
when I get to this setting.

See my edit. Bunker is probably right.

It looks like this was changed in later SPs like the SP1271. I'm using a SP1048 and a set is not needed to change it for that. The SP1271 PSR should be worded different.

That also makes this thread wrong

I will try it again and follow the PSR.
That might be why its not working.

Actually it looks like we are both right. The SET is needed to enable changing the setting. But the setting is still changed in the self test.

From the set 90 PSR:
Bill Pay Mode <0> [8]   Determines how inserted bills are paid.  Options are bill pay mode is fixed to changer only and cannot be changed in self test {0}, or bill pay mode is self-test selectable {1}.

So it looks like you will need to change it in both places.

lol I was a little tired when I posted but I wasn't drinking anything Poppo!!!  :97- :208-

I dunno...the SP1271 PSR for that chip says it needs to be changed with a SET chip...>>>

"Bill Acceptor   Uses ID-023.  Acceptable bill denominations are $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100.
If the bill pay mode selection is disabled, all inserted bills are paid from the hopper, regardless of the game credit type.
If the bill pay mode selection is enabled, the operator can specify in self test how inserted bills are paid."
"Use the set chip to enable/disable the bill pay mode selection."

Attached below is the SP1271 PSR sheet>>>

OK Guys I got it fixed!!!  :92-
Poppo and Stayouttadabunker are both right.
I had to use the set chip to turn on the ability
to change to setting in the regular setup.

It is a double step for that option.

Thanks Poppo and Stayouttadabunker!!!
 :259- :259- to you both.

a Z-80 MPU circuit board - circa 1977
They used wire-wrapped pin connections back then.
What a mess that must of been!!!!

Wire wrapping - the good old days.  :5- One of my first projects was for one of the first VHS VCRs.  :79- The VCR had a wired remote to change the channels. But the channel indicators were on the top of the VCR where you could not see them from the couch. So I hard wired my project to the remote so that it cycled through the different channels that were set up on the VCR. This was all done with just logic gates. The wired remote pulsed the input to the wire wrapped board. That drove a 1 of 8 decoder and each output was configured with it's own set of hard wired logic to display a different channel number since they were not sequential. Then the output drove two 7 segment LEDS to display the channel. I was pretty amazed that it worked. What I did not know at the time was that you should strobe the LED segments.  :25- So things got pretty toasty with all of the segments lit at the same time.
