Title: Cherry Master CGA to LCD Screen
Post by: Ron (r273) on June 12, 2011, 01:46:46 PM
Since my wife enjoys this machine so well I am going to change out the screen.
I have a 19" Phillips A48AFN36X, R19 WHWH, 330277-20 screen and a Products Corp
200W, Model BS200P power supply. I am think on getting this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290470301486&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290470301486&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

My question is this the right one I need and what else do I need to plug and play?  Any cheaper prices on
the same thing around? Any help would be appreciated.

I think you could just get an LCD screen and get a CGA to VGA converter, this would be a cheaper solution. I thought that I saw a couple of threads on here about that maybe Bunker knows?

Thanks reho33 for the reply. Unless it is spelled out, I don't known one part from another. :71-   The one I am looking at seems to have a converter
built in. I did read somewhere I might need a extra power supply. Guess I need to ask them.

r273,
Can you measure the opening of your cabinet?
I need to see what can possibly fit in there.
I might have a spare LCD you can have I'm not using.

There is a 19" screen within 23"W x 16 H" area.

Mine are for a 15-3/4" X 13" opening with 16-3/8" center-to-center screw holes.
This one is 20" when measured from corner-to-corner diagonally.
It's more of a "wide-screen" type of LCD monitor.
You'd be needing a more square-ish styled screen.

I don't know if yours gets mounted to the cabinet wall wooden blocks?
The bottom photo is the back of it.
You can see it has dual connections for CGA & VGA and uses a small 12V power pack.

Here's what they look like with the plexiglass put into position...
I have a bad reflection from the fluorescent room lighting in the 1st picture I'm afraid.  :8-
I turned out the lights and took another shot for you! >>>

That might fit with making some side mount wood pieces. My screen is mounted
to a triangler steel frame, all self contained within the frame. But the plexiglas opening
size would not fit the screen. My plexiglas is 23" W. x 22 1/4" H. with a viewing area of
only 15" W x 11 1/4" H.

Thank so much for the pics and checking, Mark.
(The back of your screen says 19" though)

I remeasured...you're right. It is a 19" diagonal screen.
The actual LCD screen viewing area itself is 15"X12".
So, it might work with your plexi?
You can always reduce the LCD screen size utilizing the OSD controls.
I'll check in the morning for one that works and pack it with a power pack.

I figured I better let others know what we're talking about for reference.
Plus I lose stuff in my overloaded computer anyways... :96-
Below are photos of the CGA video connections on the back of the LCD screen
and how I depicted the pin-outs to r273 for him to see if he had the same stuff!
The second photo is the CGA Molexes what most older Cherry Master games come with.

But Mark, didn't you have a thread where you bought a circut that did the signal conversion? And it kept coming up with inverse colors?

Yes, but we were trying to convert video signals from a PE+ - not a cherry master board....  :72-
The PE+ has screwed up video output signals.
