Title: Sigma SG-32B tilt error and won't accept coins or dollars
Post by: hez4reel on June 13, 2011, 01:53:27 PM
We just purchased a 1995 Sigma SG-32B slot machine and it's giving us a tilt error and the display just shows tilt and then says to insert money but it won't accept any.  When you try to insert a coin, the comparitor stays to the left so the money doesn't drop down.  I tried to do a reset and of course that doesn't help.  Any suggestions or help would be most appreciated!! Thank you!

"...the comparitor stays to the left..."

okay, what do you mean by that...is it installed backwards???
Did the vendor install it that way?  :96-
Please! You really need to show us this!  :91- :89-

Is there a coin installed in the comparator?

Like proten said make sure there is a coin in. To get the bill acceptor working, open door, push red button 2 times & on door display
you go about 2 push on door button until bill acceptor comes up & activate it. Close door.
I think I am correct. I don't have my manual, I gave it to a guy.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, been tied up with work.  Thank you all for the information, I'm going to try and see if maybe those could be the problems.  There is no coin installed, but I did go out to Coin Mechanisms website and looked at a diagram and see that there is a screw missing that looks like it holds the comparitor in place.  So I'm going to try ordering that to see if maybe that is the problem.  Although the red light is on, so I'm thinking that's probably not the problem.  I did look through the manual and tried checking everything it said, the 12V orange wire in the 2 separate pin areas, and no issues were found.  I tried to do a RAM clear to see if I could just reset the machine back to it's standard operating settings and I couldn't get that to work, so I'm not sure if they have that locked or not.  I guess I'll try what you suggested and the screw when it comes in and see if any of those work.  I'm learning more about slot machines than I thought I would ever know.  :)  HA!   Another quick question though if you don't mind.  The battery that is on the circuit board, what is that for?  That wouldn't be the problem would it?  I can't figure out how to get the battery out to test it, but didn't have time to read through the manual on it either.  :)

Thanks again, appreciate the help!

Sorry, one more thing...  Chris said when he powered the machine on, that he got a payout 129 that flashed across the screen.  Could it be that the person who had it before us hit a jackpot and didn't have enough money in the hopper to pay out the winnings and that's what is causing the problem?  We asked the guy we bought it from and he is clueless.  He said he rarely used the machine, he had it in his pub for when people came over and 90% of the time the kids were the ones playing on it.  I read some where that if you hit the jackpot and don't have enough coins in the hopper to pay out that you have to keep feeding coins in the hopper until it clears.  Or is there a reset that you can do on the machine to make it clear that?  I was hoping when we bought it that it would be an easy fix because the guy seemed pretty clueless about the machine.  And the company I called about working on it, well, I won't go there but lets just say they were all about making money and offered not one piece of advice, even knowing that I live about 2 hours away from their shop.  So thank God for these forums, you all rock!

Maybe I can provide some assistance here.  To get the machine to take a coin, there MUST be a coin in the comparitor.  Also, the coin to be accepted MUST be the same coin as the hopper is designed for.  My machine have quarter hoppers so I have a quarter in some machines and tokens in others giving folks the option of Coin play or Token play.  Since the hopper can be changed out as can the coin in the comparitor these can become 'out of sync'.  However, from your story I suspect your machine will probably have the hopper that will match the denomination printed on the machine above the coin slot.   The red light on the coin comparitor is there to indicate it has power.

The battery is probably soildered to the CPU board so there's no taking it out easily.  However, I've found that the battery on these machines are not really that important and it doesn't take much juice in one to keep the memory.  I would no worry about the battery until you get the machine up and running.  At start up, if the battery didn't 'hold the memory' you will get a 'Rams Wrong' display and turning the reset on the side of the machine will clear that (I think the reset button inside will also do it).

Some machines require that they 'pay out' what is owed, but some allow the 'reset' process to clear that.  Some machine will require a 'reset' anytime a single payout is over some preset maximum.  These options allow for various casino and regulatory tracking for payouts over a specific dollar amount.  If I recall on the SG machine I have, the reset cleared any 'owed' amount.. but I could have this confused with another machine I have.

I am looking for a SG-32B manual in PDF format and if I find one I will let you know and send you a copy.

Oh... I'm be back here on there forum I'm sure, I just bought out a old slot dealer and now the proud owner of 15 Sigma machines.  I figure I'll get'm running and sell them for $450 each.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
