Title: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: keystone9 on June 30, 2011, 12:44:07 AM I have a Bally Monte Carlo with the top box wheel spinning all the time. I can play the game but when I hit a spin to win a 77 code comes up which means no communication. Swaped out controler board, nothing, swaped out wheel board, nothing. Dip switch #1 set correct. Thanks for any help. Bill :103-

Title: Re: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: keystone9 on June 30, 2011, 11:54:24 AM I am shopping out this game for resale. It was complete and just came off the floor. It does try to initialize and then just spins. I shoped the game out and everything else is fine but that. In the first post I ment dip switch #1. Thanks Bill

Thanks for any help. Bill :103- Hi Bill,Did you check the harness for a broken or cut wire? Did you try another main board? Normally I would first check the tob box control board, but you already swapped that for a known good board, so I would suspect the harness or main board (since the main board is easier, I'd try that first). You are not new to these, so you most likely already checked the connector at the front of the main board. one last question, are there any other codes. Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: keystone9 on June 30, 2011, 10:17:31 PM I have visually checked the harness, will meter them out next. Yes I tried another main board, same. There is no other codes. Took care of them first. Game plays great except for that little bug. I had to walk away from this one for a while and go to the next. Thanks Bill
Title: Re: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: cp on June 30, 2011, 11:30:23 PM I had the same "symptoms" on a Monte Carlo... top box would constantly spin.. and I was able to play the game !
I pulled the top box reel motor and reel "board"... replaced it with another reel motor / and board. Problem Solved.. Title: Re: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: keystone9 on July 01, 2011, 12:33:46 PM I am going to try that again with another unit. Thanks Bill
Title: Re: Bally Monte Carlo top box problem Post by: cp on July 01, 2011, 02:23:06 PM FYI... as you know, you can use Bally 6000 mtr / board from "regular" reel slot. You just have to carefully bend the edge connectors on the board to accommodate the spinning reel / ball on the top box set up. Thinking back, I wondered if it was the reel motor or the board that was the "problem"... whichever it was, it solved my "issue".
