Title: GM can't change EPROM
Post by: brianfink on July 01, 2011, 04:45:18 PM
I put a different board in my game maker and some of the EPROM settings are wrong when I put in my clear chip and set switch 7,8 it goes straight to safe ram clear and dosn't erase the EPROM. What am I not doing or doing wrong.

Are you sure your clear chip is correct?
I assume you mean the EEPROM settings need to be changed?

I am not 100% shure the chip is correct it is just marked GM Clear P10 but it does work as far as clearing the RAM and yes I do need to clear the EEPROM settings like door type is wrong so I cant even get it to a playable state and machine type and bill acceptor type are also wrong and it seems to be in demo mode.

It sounds like a full clear is the proper course/solution. That is where you choose the door type, the bill acceptor type, and the machine type.

Some Mains will start in demo mode until you enter an SAS ID number. (22 Mains do this). You simply need to go into the setup menu and add a phony ID (all "1"s) and it will become casino-ready. This is done after the clear & initial setup. The menu option is in the far right column on the main setup menu. (I think it's labeled SAS setup, or something :103-  CRS.)

I thought that was what I was doing when I turn on both switch 7and 8 but it acts like I just have on switch 8 I think I might just try the mains from my older board on the one I just got

Swapping the U3 chip from another game may work in some cases but is not guaranteed. You'll need to clear the chip using a burner, install a blank (new) one, or buy the "Deep Blue" clear chip from Blueridge.
