Title: Need help Installing a older Mikohn from a 5500 in a Bally S6000 Post by: b5srt on July 07, 2011, 10:14:25 PM I purchased an older Mikohn progressive system that was originally in a Bally 5500 (see below picture) . I have hooked it all up with all the cables supplied but I noticed that the wiring is different from my other S6000 progressive. I can program the controller with a scrolling message and the Jackpot setting and everything seems fine except the scrolling message is to fast even when I try lowering the speed but this in not my main problem. I dont think the controller is communicating with the backboard because the Jackpot value does not increase while playing and I know that I have the PSP settings correct because they are the same as when I programmed my other machines. On my S6000 with the ChamII there is a 2 wire plug going to the J14 485 plug and 2 wire plug going to the Jackpot plug and I have a relay on jackpot 1. The system I purchased just has a 4 wire harness that goes to the Jackpot plug (see pictures below) Also in the set-up of the machine option <2> progressive type, what setting should this older unit be. Assuming you don't, it doesn't have the "brains" to run a stand-alone progressive meter.
To confirm, can you please tell us what it says on the labels I've circled that got blanked out from your camera's flash? I also noticed there are two plugs that could go to J4, they appear to be the same except one has a white wire going to pin 7 and the other has a brown to 7. I had to reconfigure the plug on the backboard using only the yellow and orange wires (see picture) yellow is on the 3rd terminal from the left and the orange is last on the right. I can use either plug harness at the controller because both have the same wiring for the yellow & orange. The only setback is you do need the small jackpot relay to do both the increment display and the jackpot win display. Hope this helps others in the future.

Now my increments are working but it still wont trigger the jackpot on the progressive display or reset after the key turn. If I remove the progressive plug from the back board and jumper the wires it will show a jackpot win and reset. It seems I can only program this progressive unit on Con1, my settings are below. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hook it back up to psp change F8 to MS00 Then with no credits on the machine go into 11d menu option #80 enable 01 Next you want the pay table test 10d to trigger the jackpot of course you must align those symbols. Press and release the TEST button until the message 10 d appears in WIN PAID, indicating the Payout test is selected. Press and hold CHANGE. The message “rl 1” appears in CREDIT, indicating reel one is selected. While holding CHANGE, press the SPIN button. Reel one moves to the next stop position. Release and press SPIN (still holding down the CHANGE button) until the desired reel symbol lines up on the pay line, then release the CHANGE button. Repeat to select positions for the remaining reels. After selecting the reel positions, press BET ONE to select the number of credits to wager. Press SPIN. The CREDIT display shows the win for the reel-symbol combination, the wager, and the credits to be paid from the hopper. Repeat the procedures above to confirm payouts for any reel combination and wager. I think this will solve the problem for you please post back the results . Thanks to this post (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=13704.msg118820#msg118820) earlier in the thread, it tipped me off that I needed to use the "CON1" connection option in PSP in order to connect to the controller (I had been trying "OLD" as that's how you'd talk to a ChamII+, but that didn't work). Anyway, when connected with the CON1 setting, there isn't a MS00 or MS08 or any other MS setting for F8 in PSP. According to the manual, when connected with CON1, F8 controls flashing rates for photon meters connected to the controller (with NOFL = No Flash). The only machine protocol selection is F4 (M-08 for many "modern" slots -- PE+, S+, Bally 6000, etc.). |
