Title: Having Problems with vision machine
Post by: triplediamond on July 19, 2011, 12:38:13 AM
Hi All,
My boss has a S2000 Vision Upright,I am familiar with my S+ and green when it comes to the Vision,so here it goes.....Power machine up Call Attendant on Screen, coin jam and door M open in display...It seems that the bottom half of the machine is dead ,as in no buttons no lights etc ,game spins when first turned on and BV cycles,i can get menu options on the screen but the  buttons are dead not letting me scroll through the options, any ideas on where to start looking to troubleshoot ?
Any help would be appreciated
Eric

Could be a number of things but I'd start with checking the fuses 1st.
Make sure the door and cabinet I/O card connectors is plugged in fully.
Is the coin comparitor chutes clear? No paper in the chutes?

sounds a lot like a door IO card problem or door harness. If your machine uses a 1270 enhanced mpu, you might look at the green 3 cell battery also.

I have checked fuses ,coin chute is clear,The IO card you are taking about ..would that just be the door optics seems like the door latch is a bit loose when you close it..what about the buttons why would they be totally dead?

There's 2 small boards socketed on the door. They're about 5" sq with a handle for pulling them out. What MPU does your machine use?

yes those are the I/O's.  make sure power is off when reseating them, if you have another machine handy you could swap them one at a time

there are 2 batteries on an S2000 MPU. One is the coin type battery and the other is a larger NMh battery. Depending on what MPU is in the machine, the green battery can cause these types of problems when it goes bad. Be careful when swapping IO boards from another machine. Single line button decks, like on a standard 3 reel machine use a 7801 IO board while 2 row button decks, like on a vision machine, use the 7802 IO boards. All these numbers can be found on the boards themselves and are found in the last 4 digits of the board model number. If you're not sure, post CLEAR pictures

Thanks for all your help

Bad move...the I/O board is probably toast... :98-
Swap it out with a known good I/O board with the power off...

Not necessarily, but it's possible. At this point he needs to replace the IO board and if the machine is still down, we'll go from there.

Thanks Stat,
Another question,he stated that the monitor started going on and off (that is what started this mess)what would origionally cause this,I also noticed that the credit window was blank,no display... would this be due to dead battery's in the MPU board ? if so i was going to get some with the IO board
