Title: Whats the differance between a S & S+ Machine?
Post by: Amachanic on July 19, 2011, 10:37:07 PM
I have a queston... I have two IGT machines I'm looking to buy, but one doesn't have a tag. I think that machine is a model S because it doesn't have a bill validator. It has a White Diamonds 3 coin kit in it.. The seconds says 1994 on the tag and has a bill validator and the kit is double lucky 7's 3 coin kit, so this would be an S+.. Both come with stands for $625.00 for both. The White Diamond machine has an issue with the coin jamming in the comparator, sound like a simple fix... What everyone think?

The one with a bill validator is an S+ for sure.  The one without the bill acceptor could still be an S+ -- you'd need to post a picture of the inside of the machine (specifically the processor board area) to confirm or deny that.

Yes, the jammed coin in should be a simple fix.  (Hey, just force it!) :P

If they're both S+ machines then that isn't TOO bad, although you should see if you can talk him down to $500 for the pair.  If one of them really is an S machine, I'd think about leaving that -- it's gonna get tougher and tougher to find S (non plus) parts and chips.

I kind of figured that the older S machine would be tough the find parts.. Already mentioned that to the seller. I'm going to see if they can send me a good clear pic of the inside... There also looking to sell a large collection of older casino coin cups. All from the casinos around Vegas going back over 30-40 years...

Here are the pics of the inside of the machine in question.. Is this an S or S+?

thats a S machine,  a double diamonds clone.  if memory serve me, the award and belly glass are the same as s+, the reels are the same size, the hopper is interchangable, the handle is the same, the guts to the S model will slide out and can be replaced with the guts to a S+, probably would have to change a few harness, but is all that worth it.  the S model will only play games that are simple, e.g.  double diamond, wild cherry, rwb, etc.  no nudge or bonus type games.

Thanks Jim.. Thats kind of what I figured, but I'm still learning the IGT machines. This information will be helpful when taking to the seller on a price for his machines...

I bought a machine today and was searching the web to see if I got an s or s+ machine and I stumbled across this post and  this is the machine that I bought.   Gary,  Did you ever look at the machine?  It was not a stuck coin from what I can tell.  It had no comparison coin in it and someone screwed with coin comparitor and there is no tension to hold the coin.  I found the spring inside the front glass.  Machine had a code 61 I cleared the 61 and got a 12.  If you looked at it did you see anything that made you pass?  I am a noobie and want to look in the right place for trouble.

12 is a dead battery. That's the first thing you'll need to take care of.

I never went and looked  at the machine in question. I have bought from that seller before, but was just curious about the difference in machines. One reason I didn't buy if was it being an S, from what I heard parts can be hard to find if a problem happens. Second the prices have come down so much that for a little bit more cash I can buy an S2000. Now I have a machine that has many choices of games, sound, and play options. That's why I passed on it. Your profiles not filled out complete, are you from the Detroit area?

I am in the Detroit area.  I live in Clawson near Troy.  I paid $150 for the unit.  Hopefully I did ok.  I did think it was an S+ when I bought it.  Where can you find deals on s2000 around here?  Do you just watch craigs list?  How long since you bought from the seller?  He told me he has only lived in Michigan for a month so I wondered if he was telling me a story.

I bought 2 older Bally Machines from the seller about 3 weeks ago. They were posted on Craigslist for 30 days before that, so do the math, I think that puts him here longer then a month.. If you do a search on Craigslist of his phone number you will see everything he has for sale and buys... So it sounds like he's a storie teller, but if your happy with what you bought them whats that matter?.. He's one of those seller that will sell you anything, and tell you what you want to hear to sell it.  That's why I posted this thread to find the answers to my questions before jumping and buying... My email address is in my profile if you would like to contact me off of here... Gary
