Title: Trying to ID a Bally Slot - don't have it with me... Post by: modessitt on July 22, 2011, 01:43:41 AM Someone brought in a board from a Bally slot to our shop. Slot doesn't work, and I determined the battery was dead. Seems pretty simple so far. The problem is that I don't know what version of Bally slot it is, so i don't know if there is any reset or clear procedure I need to do before it goes back to the machine (I'm taking it back).
I tried doing a Google Images search of Bally slot boards, and didn't find one like it. I tried to draw a simple pic of what it looks like. it is rectangular and was mounted on the left inside wall of the slot (if I remember correctly). It has a small board mounted onto the main board, and the battery is on that board. the battery is one of those that look like a AA battery with solder tabs, like was seen on the late 70's pinball MPU's. Here is the crappy drawng. The white box is the battery: (http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w7/modessitt/SlotbALLY.png) The battery is this type: (http://www.lakesidepinballparts.com/pbbattery.jpg) Does anyone know the model? And if there is anything that needs to be done after replacing the battery? this sucks, not even knowing the name of the slot. I just know the board says Bally on it, and it's at work. I really need to know something by tomorrow... PS: I tried searching for every post about Bally and Battery, but nothing. Nor did I find pics of Bally boards for ID purposes... If so the battery is a nicad and the machine needs a couple of hours on to charge the battery. Title: Re: Trying to ID a Bally Slot - don't have it with me... Post by: modessitt on July 22, 2011, 02:34:20 PM 1000 series - thanks. I can put a fully charged battery on it. Does it need any resetting done once I reinstall the board? or will it work right away?
And one of the chips says E-1226, if that makes a difference. the board is a P 2948-401 AS 2978-3 and the battery board is a P-2948-304 AS-2979-1... Title: Re: Trying to ID a Bally Slot - don't have it with me... Post by: proten on July 22, 2011, 03:32:16 PM The battery for the E1000 series has to be a rechargeable nicad
because there is a charging circuit to keep the battery charged. Most of the time it will reset but there is a "Zero Clear" chip for this board. http://cgi.ebay.com/BALLY-SLOT-MACHINE-RAM-CLEAR-CHIP-/350098974229?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5183866615 (http://cgi.ebay.com/BALLY-SLOT-MACHINE-RAM-CLEAR-CHIP-/350098974229?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5183866615) Paul Title: Re: Trying to ID a Bally Slot - don't have it with me... Post by: modessitt on August 09, 2011, 02:17:31 PM Thanks. I should have come back and mentioned that I replaced the battery with a rechargeable and installed it. Everything is working good now...
